It's been just over 8 years since that dreaded day that changed the life of the entire World.

The day that life as we knew it, turned into death and destruction in an ongoing bases. Today, humans are still dying daily due to the inhuman thought process of fellow human beings. No fingers pointed, as there are always four fingers pointing back at the pointer.

I stop to reflect on the uncalled number of human life lost across the World. The ones, who lost their lives on 9-11, on US soil. The men and women from all nations who have perished fighting for a cause that may be out of their hands. Is human loss really necessary for any cause?

In this time of earth quakes and devastation throughout pockets of each country, the human side should join hands as one and help those in need. Don't foresee that happening in my life time.

As we near Memorial Day, take the time to think of all those around the World who have been layed to rest. May they rest in peace.

 REMEMBER!

Duane,

Great post. I'm glad you reminded us what Memorial Day is all about. I hope you have a quiet weekend planned.  I will have "opportunity time" at the office.

I was driving down the road one day...and saw a man sitting in a wheelchair holding a cardboard sign.  It read...HOMELESS VET.  HUNGRY.  PLEASE HELP.  He was sitting right in front of a restaurant.  So, I went inside and told the host that they were to bring a menu to that man...and have him order anything on the menu, prepare a table for him inside, and I would pay for everything he wanted.  After the man was wheeled to his table, he ordered a simple dinner and a drink.  He ate his meal and as he was leaving, I handed him a room key for a motel just down the street and told him he had a full week's stay on me including room service.  The man was utterly shocked and eventually burst into tears...I knelt down to him and told him I wanted to thank him for his selfless efforts in protecting the freedoms that I and my children so lovingly enjoy.  Since then, he has secured a job and an apartment.

It CAN help.  It DOES mean something.  And if EVERYONE would be a little less selfish, more of our vets would have so much more then they do now.

God Bless our veterans.

Becky, I think this holiday gets swept into the "time off" category for many. I know I have been guilty of it as well. Since losing one of our family members in Iraq, it takes on a new meaning.

BTW, what is "opportunity time"? Floor time?

Thanks for stopping by and hope you get some family time as well,

Duane

Great post!  We are so lucky to have so many opportunities, we can dress the way we want, we can worship how ever and when ever we want, we can vote, not only can we vote we can vote for whom we want.  We must always remember the men and women who have given their lives so America is still the Land of Opportunity!  ALWAYS REMEMBER!  Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks, man...I sure didnt do it to create any good feelings in myself.  I did it so he could have some in himself.  In some way, I owe that man for what I have now...I owe them all something.  If I could do more, I would.  Yeah, it cost me some money...Im not going to say it was alot of money because nothing I can not put a price on the freedoms I have because of people like him.
