wordpress.org I hesitated upgrading to WP 2.5 for a few weeks and when we started making Listings by Address Blogs we were using WordPress 2.5 as a new install as opposed to upgrading from an already used blog.

I really liked the dashboard and the way you can upgrade your plugins within the plug-in directory as opposed to using ftp to upload your files. Uploading different types of media is now a breeze and when Monika mentioned how much she liked WP 2.5 I knew I had to bite the bullet and upgrade.

I first tried to upgrade my Real Estate Golfer blog over the weekend. I first backed up my blog by using this plug-in atwp back up plugin IF...  click the If graphic to get the plug-in.

Once I backed up the Real Estate Golfer I was ready to use the Instant WP Upgrade Plug-in which is another great plugin that does work... if all is right. LOL This Plug-in can be found at the following weblog.  This is worth the effort to have as I have used it a few times to  upgrade from earlier versions. Click on the graphic below from Zirona Open Source Consulting to get this great plug-in.

Well , I tried to upgrade the Real Estate Golfer but I ran into a glitch that didn't allow me to upgrade.  I will  have to  figure that out  later.  WP Instant Upgrade

So, today I decided to back up the New Hampshire Real Estate Blog and try and see if I could upgrade it better than I did the Golfer blog.

With the press of a couple of buttons it went so smoothly I couldn't believe it. Now we will see if we have any glitches using it as it is almost to good to be true. If you need help please lmk and I will try and help.

I'm sure it worked perfectly because I explored the site without any issues. Thanks for doing it Jay...I would not have had the nerve.

Jay, I've had numerous problems with my wordpress 2.5 blog. Adding media is impossible, it hangs up and doesn't post as well as 3-4 other gltches. I've spent hours on reading and trying to fix   with no luck. I'll try this. Maybe it will fix it.

Thanks

Jerry WP can be so frustrating. I have almost pulled what is left of my hair out last year.

Okay, Jay, I'm willing to give it a try.  I just finished fixing 55 broken links today, so I'm getting pretty speedy fixing all the broken things.  I definitely like that broken link plug-in.  I'm not sure why all my links break and re-break, but the broken link detector is excellent at finding them!

Eliese, 55 broken links wow I guess I will have to download that plug-in and see what I can find. A little scary if you ask me. Are most of your broken links due to old links? How do they get broken?

Carole, at least you should download the backup plug-in. Then the upgrade.

Linda, Linda  Linda  have I ever mis-led you?

I like the backend of 2.5, are you saying I don't need to download a ftp now? This has been stressing me out and if I don't have too, I will be a happy camper. I have also switched how somethings look on my right column like dragging on facebook.

I am using Wordpress.com like a TRUE newbie and only recently just started planning to move over to .org. Bought the dummies book and saw some major advantages as far as customization goes but now I am feeling a tad uncertain...I have had ZERO hair pulling with WP.com and since I pull out enough hair with the website we have I am wondering if WP.com isn't so bad....Hmmmmm...

Jay - upgrades, sidegrades, downgrades -- I need a sidebar to get the lingo and process all this stuff.  I am sure you will get'er done late!

What did you think of the Patriot's draft?

Jay - If only I understood a word you said, maybe I too could possibly figure it out! :)
