The experience of installing and upgrading Wordpress made me appreciate the convenience and ease of use provided by blogging general blogging services such as Blogger and industry specific services such as own ActiveRain.

I was glad I went through the exercise as I now have a blog site that, while it needs some more TLC on the layout and looks side, it will be able to do everything I need it to do.

The theme you choose is very important.  You want to choose one done by someone that has a sophisticate, yet clean style and adhers to consistent standards in their design and coding.

It is important that you choose and test themes and plugins that are not only designed for the latest version, but it's developer has a history of supporting it and providing timely updates when new versions of Wordpress become available.  Otherwise, you could be stuck on a version, not begin able to upgrade, due to a plugin for which you've become dependent.

Having control over the look and feel and the features means, that assumming there is a plugin that will provide the feature I want, I can easily add enhancements to my blog.
