After several attempts at testing various themes and plugins, it became apparent that I needed to upgrade to version 2.5 of Wordpress.  That entailed manually removing the current software version, keeping the database, and replacing with the new software. The only thing I had to do was transfer system information from

I had installed Wordpress 2.5, upgrading from 2.3.3, thinking that I would be able to use all the plugins that I had set up on the prior version with no difficulty.  However, that soon became evident that it was not that easy.

Wordpress 2.5 has a lot of internal changes from 2.3.3.  They were necessary to provide some of the new features and to help prepare for the next round of updates.  When I went to use many of the plugins that I had installed and worked in 2.3.3, many of them did not work at all or malfunctioned.

So, I had to remove (first deactivate then delete) and then verify that all the plugins were tested for 2.5 before reinstalling.

The ones that worked and provided added functionality to my blog that most people may want:

Cforms II- One of the best and most sophisticated contact form plugins. Great configurability for building your own forms.

They all claim compatibility.  Make sure you have updated to the latest versions.

I've tried all the plugins mentioned in post and they all appear to be working properly with only minor issues.  (For example, CFormsII icon may not appear on Editor toolbar when TinyMCE Advanced is installed.)  Most problems are being worked out and updates are becoming available.

A couple of major issues related to IE:
1. The ability to upload images via the editor in IE required me installing an "ie-fixes" patch.
2. When attempting the editing of widgets (via Design->Widgets), it sometimes would not allow me to edit.  In some cases, exiting out of IE and restarting browser cleared up problem for a while.  Otherwise, it always worked in Foxfire.
