So, I was reading through several blogs today and decided I would check out the most active blogs of the month.  There were several with well over 200 comments.  I did figure out how these are getting so many comments.  I just need to find a subject that is a good one, and then everytime I think of something, write a comment, comment to every comment on the post individually, and then hope a few people want to talk back and forth almost like an instant message section.  Does that about sum it up?

Some of the things that get the most comments really have no purpose.  Then others that are excellent articles get none.  Whats the deal?!?

23 Comments on Reaching 100 Blog Comments

You need to send out an email chain letter with the message that you have only a short time to live and you are trying to become the ActiveRain record holder for the blog with the most comments.

Hello Jeremy:

How is the market in Myrtle Beach these days? I went to High School in Charleston and played hookie many times on the beaches of Myrtle. I don't miss the place just wondering and trying to help you get your 100 comments. Good Luck.

Michael- The Myrtle Beach market is rather calm right now....Perfect time to buy!

Maybe if you tell them that you are an overseas investor and found a long past relative that have left them 1.5m in the bank and the only way to get the money is if you get comments. Then promise some of the 1.5 in return for the comments.

As of today I do not think it violates RESPA

Congrats

Tony

Jeremy - I have been thankful to have a lot of posts with over 100 comments, and I have even participated on three that received over 1000 comments.  The key for those of mine that have done well is typically for people to begin talking to each other, as you indicated.  However, sometimes you just strike a chord, and people respond accordingly.  I wrote one last week for my late friend, and it received about 150 comments, only one of which was from me.

Just thought of something else.  If you are able to develop a following by writing well and writing consistently, the comments will follow.  Please note that simply writing well is not enough, and simply writing consistently is also not enough.

I wrote a very silly blog last month that has 1000+ comments.  Opinions vary as to whether or not it was quality content, but when you work as hard as real estate professionals work, sometimes you just have to blog off some steam!  I can assure you that those who participated had a great time.

One great trick to getting comments is to have your blog mention Jason Crouch. LOL!  He's got the mojo!  If that doesn't work, I'll sign the petition!

All the best to you and your blog, Jeremy!

Because the silly ones are fun and the great ones, well, you don't really want to write too much on someone's localism posts.  Those are more for consumers and they don't need to hear read everything...

Tony- How did you know I already had 1.5million in turkish peso for them waiting?

Jason- I agree...getting people to conversate here would be a wonderful thing.  And what a great statement....write well consistently.

Amanda- I understand, I vented a few times already!  What was the silly blog?

04/03/2008 08:29 PM by Jeremy Blanton Myrtle Beach Real Estate (Coldwell Banker Chicora Real Estate)

Oh, Amanda, I forgot, I also did try the Jason Crouch angle...that post as of this time has had only 6 comments...

Why do some get more comments than others?  I have no idea.  I wrote a little simple blog a month or so ago and they featured it.  It really wasn't that good. At least i didn't think so.

04/03/2008 10:19 PM by John Walters (Specialized Real Estate)

John- I wondered the same thing.  I still haven't figured out the method to the madness.  Only thing I can think of is that Jason Crouch was right....You gotta have quality & consistency.

Darn- Well it seems this post won't make it to the 100 comment category either...I will have to keep trying!
