Relocating to Bucks County ? It is rich in History.

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Centre Realtors

Bucks county was founded in 1682 by William Penn. He named it after his family home in Buckinghamshire, England. Penn's home Pennsbury manor is located in Bucks County.

Bucks County is famous for its historic sites including Mercer Museum, Washington Crossing Historic park, Pennsbury Manor, Pearl S Buck House and many other sites.

Bucks county has small towns and villages as well as big townships.

In December 1776 George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River from Bucks County. Pa  on Christmas day and caught the Hessian army by surprise in Trenton , New Jersey. This was the turning point in American war of independence .The town from where they crossed is called Washington Crossing and there is a park there called Washington Crossing Historic Park.

Mercer museum was built between 1913 and 1916 by Henry Mercer. it is a national historic landmark located at 84 S. Pine street in Doylestown. http://www.mercermuseum.org/ for details.

I would love to come to one of these re-enactments.  I never knew how Bucks County got its name - I figured it had something to do with deer! ha!

I love and Miss Bucks County! Grew up there. There is also a great reenactment that takes place athte Neshaminy State Park around Memorial Day weekend. Civil War Reenactors set up campsites for the entire weekend and stage the different battles. It is really cool in that they are in character all weekend!
