Meals on Wheels

I've been selling real estate for 23 years now. As a full time Realtor and full time mom, my life is pretty busy. Now that my littlest guy is almost 12, I've been looking around and seeing what I can do to make a difference for others. I feel like it's time to do more than just work, take care of my home and family and read. I sit on the board of the Chester County Women's Commission, and while I enjoy it, it is just not very hands on. So, I signed up to deliver meals on wheels. Today was my first day. There were only 4 stops. The first stop was to an elderly couple, the wife was hearing impaired and the husband has Alzheimer's. The second stop was to another elderly couple. This time the wife was afflicted with Alzheimer's. The third stop was to a retired judge, who had a very hard time coming to the door with his cane. The fourth stop was to an elderly woman. It may not sound like much of a help, but I think I am going to enjoy delivering meals to these fine people every Thursday. I'll feel useful and who knows, maybe in addition to bringing a hot meal, I can deliver a smile that may just lighten a load. I know it will certainly lighten mine.

Nice post, it should remind all of us that giving back to others is always great and has its own rewards.

Susan......meals on wheels is a great organization. They provide meals to the elderly sometimes shut in based on their income. Sometimes it is the only point of contact these people have. At one point my father had surgery and we needed to use them for a mid day meal for him. It was wonderful stop gap situation for him until he was able to get back and running. Our assosiation of Realtors has a foundation and this is an organization we support.

Bless you! My 80+ year old dad received meals on wheels and they were wonderful people. The great thing about this is it serves as someone checking on them. You sounds like a NICE person!!!
