Hello Rain Makers -

I was recently on the phone with a client of mine who is a mortgage broker, when asked how he was doing he responded with "Well, I feel like I am sitting in an empty trailer in the middle of a level five hurricane"...after a good chuckle I thought to myself how many of you must feel like that on a day to day basis?!  The purpose of his call was two fold.  1. to participate in the current months marketing piece that my company provides and 2. for some suggestions as to what he should be doing to "market myself in this crazy marketplace", a question I am getting a lot lately!  Here are my questions back to him and to you;

1.) Are your basics in order?  Meaning, all of the things you must do as a sales professional at its most basic level.  Do you have a database maintenance system?  ARE YOU USING IT?  Do you have your database sorted so you know what clients should be getting what attention?  Do your clients think of you as someone more than a service provider?

2.) Are you marketing to your database first and foremost and with what?

This for many of you may seem basic.  For many of you, you just thought to yourself "yeah, I have been meaning to do that".  If you don't have any of the above items in order, START, before you spend another dime on any marketing material.  NOW MORE THAN EVER, is the time to treat your database like royalty and there is only one way to do that...through consistent contact!  Your database is your current and future pay days in any marketplace!

Good piece Jennifer!  People to often switch their targets as well because of a lack of response.  Big mistake!  Diligence is key, people need to see your name 5 times and they'll feel as if they know you whether they've actually met or spoke with you.
