One of the more popular methods many webmasters use to entice people to read their own blogs is to write guest posts for others. This is not something which is done often on AR, so in order to take advantage you will most likely have to look for Real Estate blogs outside of the community. However, guest blogging for others can result in wonderful rewards.
You may ask, why guest blog when I can blog for myself? Well the main reason for this is exposure. Normal blogging etiquette dictates that when a blog owner has a guest do a post, they include a line about that poster. This includes a link. Not only does this serve as an introduction to a multitude of new readers, but it's an extra link in Google, which, depending on how well-liked the blog is by Google, can result in some higher rankings.
One of the most widely read blogs online, JohnChow.com, has over 15 000 readers of his RSS feed. Imagine the exposure all of his guest bloggers receive. Finding Real Estate blogs and writing the occasional guest post can do wonders for increasing the horizons of your readership.
You may also be wondering what should you submit? Always make sure that any content you send to a different blog is 100% original. Do NOT post the same post in your blog here at AR. This is not only duplicate content in Google, but it's also hugely disrespectful to the blog's owner. If his readers enjoy your article, they will click your links and visit your other blog posts. This brings me to my next point, which is that you should always display your best work for others. That mediocre article you're not too pleased with but are posting anyways just to update your content won't cut it. You want your best work on display for those new readers to be hooked to what you're writing.
Finally, how do you approach other bloggers? Normally, blog authors will leave their e-mail address in their "about" pages. Use that to contact them. If you're trying to have your post featured in a large blog, it's normally best to include the post in your e-mail, though not as an attachment. Just paste it at the end of the message, as many large blog owners receive hundreds of e-mails per day and don't have the time to play e-mail tag with you to ensure they have your post. Try to contact bloggers who have something to do with the Real Estate industry, as you'll get the best results through those, but don't necessarily limit yourself to the one industry. You just need to avoid "spamming"completely unrelated blogs that would have nothing to do with anything Real Estate related.
Guest blogging is a great way to get your blog out there and have people from the outside come and read your posts through the links!
