There are many facets to Real Estate 2.0. One of the benefits of Real Estate 2.0 is that it is a new and innovative approach to marketing yourself. As you utilize the Internet, make sure that you are branding yourself. There is an excellent article in the Realtor Magazine this month called Welcome to Real Estate 2.0. I recommend you read it.

Those who subscribe to Real Estate 2.0 can separate yourself from the masses who are not tech savvy. A while back, I wrote a blog called Is Your Realtor Tech Savvy? I could probably add a few more things to it . . . I actually know of one person who does not have a cell phone, another uses a pager . . . remember those? Some are not sure about email attachments. So . . .

There are many tools that we as Real Estate professionals can subscribe to.

Some of these tools are as follows:

1. Social networks such as Facebook, and MySpace. These are networks that you can create your own profile, write about yourself to advertise and create relationships. As a result of these relationships, referrals can come. I have both a Facebook and MySpace account (however my daughter's friends keep wanting to add me . . . ), however it is one more place for you to become visible.

2. Videos are also another way to promote yourself and a very popular video site is YouTube. You can share information. I have viewed many videos on YouTube.

3. Blogging - this is definitely becoming more popular. More and more agents are starting to write blogs. As Real Estate professionals, it is important that we read Blogs as there is so much information to obtain, as well as write Blogs and "pay it forward". Writing quality information is important as well, because lets not forget that the consumers will find you on-line. However, I seem to find the "bloggers" online - well go figure! Most of the people that I network with do not blog, however I encourage it because of the huge amount of info that is out there.

You can also create relationships through blogging that may result in referrals as well. I definitely have my favorites that I subscribe to and read on a regular basis, and am also adding to that list. I look forward to meeting some of the people I network with at upcoming conventions, etc.

As you are becoming more familiar with the tools that are out there, it is important that you are creating your own niche and that people can identify you that way.

Your right, there are many tools out there.  One just needs to be consistent, knowledgeable, informative, and relevant.  There was a great article in this month's Realtor Magazine about Web 2.0 / Real Estate 2.0 as well.

I read the article and they had other items as well including wikis, mash-ups. I use blogging primarily and it still amazes me how many people are not blogging.

I agree, I just got off the phone with Margaret Rome about this exact topic.  She is going to be presenting at a conference and her topic will be about blogging.  Unfortunately before she can talk about blogging, she will first have to explain what blogging is since so many people still do not know.

Learn, adapt, adopt and move forward--or watch your business dwindle and die.  Was Darwin a businessman at heart?

I like that Kent - "learn, adapt, adopt and move forward".
