Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  You like me... you really really like me.

VARBuzz Blog BrawlFor those of you who don't know, the Virginia Association of REALTORS has just kicked off its first annual Real Estate Blog Brawl.  This March Madness college basketball style tournament pits real estate blogs from Virginia and across the country in a no-holds barred competition for the title of Blog Brawl Champion.

Just 4 days ago, I put out a call asking for your help to nominate my blog, Virginia Real Estate News (http://blog.brianblock.com), for the competition.  You've obviously responded in droves.  The tournament is divided into four divisions, and my blog is seeded #2 in its division based on number of nominations.  Moreover, I was surprised to find that my Active Rain blog, http://activerain.com/blogs/bablock, also got seeded in the Blog Brawl at #14.

The Real Estate Blog Brawl is the brainchild of Ben Martin, VAR executive and blogmaster of VARBuzz, the blog for the Virginia Association of REALTORS.  Click here to view the announcement of the blog tournament and place your votes.  In addition to my blog, you'll recognize some other familiar bloggers from Active Rain including:

I know that all of these bloggers would appreciate your votes.  Only one vote per IP address (feel free to vote more than once as long as you use a different computer).

The rules of the Blog Brawl state that contestants can use any legal and ethical means at your disposal to win the Blog Brawl.

Brian Block Blog Brawl Tailgate PartyIn that spirit, I'm hosting a Brian Block Blog Brawl Tailgate Party.  Join the party:

Anybody who votes for my blogs:

http://blog.brianblock.com

and/or

http://activerain.com/blogs/bablock

throughout the tournament will be entitled to join the tailgate party -- the best in town.

Free Beer -- Vote for Brian! As an incentive bribe, I'm offering a free drink of your choice (beer, wine, scotch, sake, absinthe, or other pleasure) if you vote for my blog in the tournament.

While I don't know if winning this tournament will turn into more business, more blog traffic, or just bragging rights, I do appreciate any support you're willing to give.  And please vote for the other Active Rain bloggers above too (at least in the early rounds).  As you'll see, there's some stiff competition from some nationally recognized bloggers and multiple author blogs from the real estate blogosphere.

Remember -- vote for Brian = free drink for you next time you are in the Northern Virginia/D.C. area.  If you can't make it here, I'll get you a free drink at the next real estate conference that we both attend.  At a minimum, I'll happily send you a Facebook cocktail.

One great thing about this competition is that it will expose you to 60 great real estate blogs, many of which you may never have seen before, both inside and outside of Active Rain.

Click here to vote for my blog in the VARBuzz Blog Brawl.  Spread the word.

Ok buddy boy...I posted this on the brawl parking lot...but wanted to be sure you had a peek.

let's see...Brian sends a note asking for support AFTER the nominations have closed. OK...I get that...I just went out and took control of the name of my next blog..."I am chopped liver"....watch for it. Sorry, feathers are ruffled. I see, Jay, "Mr. Motorfingers" has somehow secured notice..hm hm..born in Virginia. So the hierarchy will read Jefferson, Madison...Thompson ??????? Damn it, side tracked again. Well, since Block failed to nominate me, I will just have to drop him two pity votes and move on. After all, thenakedrealtor.info has not had a new post since the market got busy...that's right, over on this side of the river...we have buyers!
love ya kids

Brian,

How were they seeded? Just by the number of nominations? RainCityGuide and BHB were both seeded like 8 or 9? Wow...........OK, my votes are in, although I did have to do some research. There were a couple I had never heard of. I wouldn't be a responsible voter if I just picked based on which name I liked better..........(OK, on a couple match-ups that's what I did, but don't tell anyone)

Oh yeah, I regret to inform you that I have to block your email address now that you have sent me what essentially amounts to spam, hahahaha!

03/04/2008 11:40 AM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

Isn't Bob Stewart a funny guy:-)  Mr. Block, I voted for you and will be attending the tailgate party in spirit, my spirit tends to drink like a fish so I will apologize for the tab in advance.

Methinks your Association is well ahead of the curve with this one...

Brian, I tried to vote early and often, but even just the "early" part I kept getting an error message.

03/04/2008 05:57 PM by Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company)

Brian, Congratulations, and I am game for helping out all I can.  Save the drink for later for me.

03/04/2008 07:08 PM by Ray Nellum, Fort Smith Real Estate (Warnock Real Estate, LLC.)

JOHN:  Thanks for your fun comment -- I saw that over in the Blog Brawl Parking Lot.  I do appreciate your two pity votes...

BILL & BARBARA:  You gotta do what you gotta do.  This is a competition!

03/05/2008 08:51 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

BOB:  Thanks for checking in and voting -- it seems like a pretty fun idea that our Virginia Association has come up with.  The blogs were seeded by the number of nominations.  It was great to see so many familiar Active Rainers onboard.

Oh, and I'm very disappointed that you've blocked my e-mail -- I had tons of chain letters, internet jokes, and invitations to other social networking sites that I was just about to send you :)

03/05/2008 08:57 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

JASON:  The way it's looking now, I might have to rent out an entire local tavern on St. Patrick's Day to get in all these drink requests.  I hope that means I'm getting lots of votes.  Thanks.

03/05/2008 08:58 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

JEFF:  The Virginia Association is definitely ahead of the curve.  I've met the guys in charge and they are a young, energetic bunch of bright fellows.  I'm looking forward to more good things from the Virginia crew.

03/05/2008 09:06 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

STEVE:  Definitely give me a ring when you come to town.  It'll be my pleasure to buy you a beer, or any other libation.

03/05/2008 09:06 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

PAT:  I know they were having some bugs with the voting system.  Voting irregularities, I guess you call it.  Maybe you can try again later.
