If you blog for business, social networking or pleasure, the task is easier with the right tools. My husband is the one to blame for my
blogging addiction - he gave me Mac as a gift, and the rest is history. I used computers all my life. The Mac difference is that it makes using the computer enjoyable. What more can I ask from a machine? Mac has firmly planted itself in my bed (not a good thing, except for the fact that it's pink) and my Mac propelled addiction is growing by the minute.
There are many applications to make blogging using Mac easier. Darren Rowse describes 14 of the ones he uses in his ProBlogger post. If you have been on AR for any length of time you probably have read about many of them already. In fact there were only a couple I didn't know about. From Deren's list I had most of the applications already, but haven't use them all yet.
Ecto - blogging software primarily for those with multiple blogs. Since I don't have another blog, I did not want to complicate the process I had in place. I have Mac's pages, but didn't take the time to switch form the Word and TextEdit I have been using. I will give Ecto a try to see if it makes incorporating links into a blog less cumbersome.
Things - task management tool is on my list of tools to try, as I search for ways to simplify and organize my life. Derren uses TaskPaper for this purpose. I need an application to help me to spend less time on things by getting more organized. My current method is from the stone age - I write my to-do's in the notebook. I looked at several task management applications, but didn't use any yet, because the simple ones are not integrated with the calendar and the more complicated ones have a potential of me spending more time " being organized" then in my unorganized state.
Twirl - is desk top Twitter client. I does a lot of cool things including shortening URLs. I don't think I will be using it, though, until I find a "business" use for Twitter. Twirl could make it even easier for me to waste spend time on Twitter, which has an addictive quality to some types, like me.
ImageWell - I am very excited about. I have been searching for a screen capture tool of the SnagIt caliber. If you use PC, make sure to read my friend's Katerina Gasset tutorial on SnagIt. I used Picnik and liked it a lot. I am going to try ImageWell. The SnagIt people are promising to have a Mac version soon.
The right tools makes blogging job easier and more enjoyable. In the end, we still need to write compelling, engaging and informative posts to make it worth while for people to read. I found a lot of great information in lesser known blogs about how to write in this way ( beyond what we all read in Copyblogger). I will share it in my upcoming post.
What tools made your blogging and working life easier?

Wow....sounds really great. I'm going to be changing computers soon as mine is an antique by todays standards. I'll check out the Mac for sure.
