While sitting in the chair after receiving the injections to make sure I didn’t feel any pain, I realized I am still aware of everything. Hmm…having your teeth scaled is not a fun adventure. So, why am I going through this experience?

You may ask the same of your credit.

First off, when was your last check up?
You are entitled to a free credit report every year. To order yours, click on:
Free Credit Report

Just like the dentist studies your x-rays, you need to review your reports. Are the items being reported correctly? Are they even yours? If you don’t think so, every consumer has the right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to dispute items on their report.

Did you brush your teeth?
Are you paying your bills on time? Have you just forgotten that bill from 2002? Try getting credit. They may not be calling you every moment, but they are making sure you don’t forget them.  Just like a toothache.

Flossing?
Ahh! I brush all the time. Flossing isn’t so important, right? Flossing is making sure your debt-to-income ratios are not more than 30%. You can brush all you want, but your gums are affected if you don’t take care of them. Same with overextending yourself with credit.

So, folks, it isn’t difficult to stay out of the dentist's chair. Or out of credit woes. Just a bit of discipline (okay, a lot). I plan on keeping my floss by the TV remote. You just have to click, print, fill out and mail to get your reports.

Keep smiling!!

Great Post!

Love the correlation between credit and dentistry. I'll be checking out your website and seeing if I can possibly refer you some clients!!!

Thanks

Christina: Thanks. Trying to clean up an 'old', but important topic. 8-)

Ken: Again thank you. And I actually wrote this the day I was at the dentist, since I couldn't talk!!

Tara,  it's amazing how we can correlate different lines of business with our business.  You've done a great job correlating dentistry and your business.  It's got me thinking about my business in the same way.

Thanks Ced. It was a pleasure finally catching up with each other. We all have to think 'outside' the box when thinking about our business. Glad I got you involved. What a great compliment.

Tara Great post. It will give your consumers an easy way to relate with their credit. So few understand how it works. Cassie

Thanks Cassie for the compliment. I don't understand the stock market, so if I needed the information, I would really appreciate if someone broke it down to me. Analogies always work best for me.

Tara, this is a great analogy. I think that a lot of people do not understand.

I know you have seen 100s of reports that you wonder: What were they thinking!! More importantly: Why are they here??? 8-)

Thanks Danny for the comment.

Tara  Since I just returned from my 6 month visit to the dentist I can easily relate to your analogy,  Karen

Karen Yep, I go in another 5 months and 1 week and I am already not looking forward to it! And the people in the office are so nice, too!!

Tara: I LOVE this analogy!  It definitely explains the importance of maintaining your credit in a way that everyone can understand....everybody wants to avoid the dentist's chair!  Mind if I quote you?  :)

Tara - Good analogy. I hate the dentist. I have had that scaling done - That is no fun!. Glad I have sterling credit though :)

Tara - this is a great analogy and exceptional article. You may want to reformat this as an article and publish it online; I think it will help drive traffic to your website. If you need additional information, please shoot me an email.

Jackie: Thanks. I will take you up on that information later today.

Barbara: I'm quotable! You have made my evening!!

Bill: Not sterling Bill; pearly. We must stay within the perimeters of the analogy. 8-)

Tara, What a great comparison!!  I think people probably feel the same way about dealing with money as they do with going to the dentist!  Kind of that, I hate dealing with it, but I know I have to sooner or later!!

03/07/2008 07:17 AM by Audrey June-Forshey, GRI, Gaithersburg, MD (RE/MAX Realty Group)

Audrey you are so right! I had a potential client say to me she wanted to 'Change her relationship with money." How profound. I told her I was going to quote her on this whenever I could. I couldn't help her (tax issues), but I will say again 'Thanks Jackie!!".

Hey Tara, lately I've been in the dentist chair on a regular basis taking care of issues I'd neglected over the years. Now I guess I need to check out my credit report.

Tracy: Thanks! Analogies make sense to me, so I use them often.
