I have to admit I've been a tad jealous of some of the ActiveRain members who have nice "signatures" to their postings, with a nice "signature" image, and some appropriate link tag as well.  I found a cool site today that will help you to make the nice cool looking "signature" image.   MyLiveSignature.comJon Sigler

Start by typing what you want to make into your "signature", your full name or initials.  I tried out the site and found countless text styles, from casual handwriting styles like I picked, to hard core "text" and almost everything in between, there were like 120 different font options.  Then you pick the color, if you want it slanted (to look more like it was handwritten) and the it creates your signature image.  Simply right click and save it to your computer.  Now you have a nice looking "signature" image for your signatures.

My jealous streak is cured. It's simple, and free.  Glad to have found this cool resource.  Enjoy!

Glad to see more creative signatures.  This is pretty cool.

Jon-Realizing that several people have commented on how easy it is, I have a question?  Once it is created and you right click to save to your computer, do you need to change the format? I am unable to to use it AR it is coming across as a bmp.

Thanks

02/25/2008 08:24 PM by Dana Forster Realtor, A Home 4Sale Inc, Va (AHome4Sale)

Dana.  This is stumping me some.  When I create a signautre, I get an output, and ability to save as a "PNG" format file.  That is acceptable as an image type for use on ActiveRain.  Several users like you have mentioned that you are getting it as a "BMP" format.  I beleive it has to do with a browser setting or your browser itself.  In trying to duplicate the trouble, I find when using FireFox (my browser of choice) I can only save as a PNG, in Internet Explorer I can only save it as a BMP.  So, you might try checking out the link in FireFox.  You can also try to two other options mentioned above to change the format.  Zamzar.com is very easy, and Irfanview is a great freeware program.

Hey Jon that has to be the problem because for me when I want to save it I can only save it in a .bmp never in a .png.

Kristin,

Nice signature.  To get it to show correctly here on ActiveRain you want to click the insert image icon (third from right) and paste "http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/256/F90D76147C669447EDFA4D0BEE3B5718.png" or any other URL where the image is stored on the top line "image URL" of the window that pops up.  You will also want to go to the appearance tab, click alliagnment to the setting you want, left, right, center.

Jon.. I've tried getting this signature 3 times, but to no avail.  I either get to the point where I need to copy the url, or if I right click on the signature it is saved as a bmp.  Even with Zamar, I can't get it to work. Any chance you can help?

09/09/2008 01:10 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Valerie,

Are you using Internet Explorer?  If you have Firefox it will allow you to save the graphic in a format other than .bmp.  Do you have the ability to use Firefox?  Let me know, if not we'll figure out a way.
