So we are nearing the unveiling of the new web site, and struggling while brainstorming for a title for my blog.

Seems everyone has a "My Blog."

Kicking around whether to try to be catchy, but not wanting to obscure the nature of the content, so people don't miss that it IS "My Blog."

I like "My Two Cents."  If it was 1972, that is...

"My Real Estate Blog"????  What if I ruminate about something else?

Hmmmm.  Stuck on "My Blog."

Looking for other suggestions from the fertile AR land, at least to get the brain cells rolling...

30 Comments on What's in a name? Choices, Choices..."My Blog"..."Hot Air"..."Mike's Blog"..."My Turn"..."From the Cheap Seats"... "Real Estate Delirium"...

Having the same problem. Trying to find a catchy name for my site as well.  WIll sit here and see if any good ideas come along.

Miriam,

I have a lot of faith in the AR Comedy Club gang to offer something stimulating...

I like catchy phrases but the basics are never wrong either.

Latonia,

I am convinced that I am late to the party, that a blogsite as we know it has a limited future, and that the basics are already dated...

Web Guy is charged with telling me what my next site needs to look like in 2 years...

That said, I agree...

I had to laugh...I've been thinking about naming my baby "The View from the Cheap Seats" but don't know if those words are copyrighted because of the song..

I don't agree with Mike.  I think a blog website is the wave of the future.  The Seo experts are telling me to name the site a longtailed seo search term relevant to your area.

I try to use Blog titles that are eye catching.  I use "What's Selling?  Florida Keys Real Estate" and "Key West Investing".  They seem to catch the consumer's eye.

Kris,

A day where I help someone laugh can't be an "all bad" day...

Russ,

Of course.  Your SEO guys are selling what they have.  Blogging has been "The wave of the future" for years now.  The future is here.  The wave, while strong, is cresting, IMO.

People weary of the wave and a fresh wave comes.  I want to catch it before the crest.

Mike...

You just have to know "Real Estate Delirium"...Has my vote.

That's flippin' hilarious :)

TLW...ROAR!

TLW,

Like "Real Estate Delirium?"  That's one of mine.

I told Web Guy we were enjoying the brainstorming just a little too much...

Mike, I just went through this myself.  I added my blog on to the rear end of my website.  Since I cover 6 different areas I hated to pick one area over another one so I got really creative and decided to call it "blog".  I decided sometimes simpler is better.  Since it is the rear end of my website it is www.agentwithresults.com/blog

02/21/2008 08:52 PM by Marchel Peterson Spring TX Real Estate E-Pro ABR (Results Realty)

Marchal,

That seems simple enough...

I think I will just toss it back to the feller who is setting it up and tell him to make me a star.

Mike, I would focus on something for SEO!!  Relate it to your area..  You deserve all the exposure you can get.

Hi Mike, a few weeks ago another real estate agent from the Rain contacted me about the same thing.

My "words of wisdom" were to look for a keyword rich, SEO friendly domain names for his blog, words that a home buyer/seller might be using to find homes in his city/area.

Out of curiosity I checked  "His City"RealEstate.com  and  "His City"RealEstateBlog.com , believe it or not, both domain names were available. Sometimes, the simple but obvious stuff works best.

Marti,

Agreed and Thanks.  I'm having a little fun here, but the naming is serious business, for sure.

As much as TLW and I love "Real Estate Delirium," it isn't in the cards.

My blog will reside on my new site, and I am looking for a title for the button to the blog, and for the blog itself.

I serve several towns, Cary, Raleigh, Apex, etc, and 5 or 6 counties, so I am having a hard time keying to a geographical location, without unnecessarily limiting myself.

We have a winner, and the world will see it soon.  Maybe by the end of the week.

Mike, How about "The wit and wisdom of Mike Jaquish, everything you want to know about Cary North Carolina real estate and more"?

Just my 2 cents.

Bill,

"Wisdom?"

Gosh, wouldn't everyone see right through that one?

Mike, Not if the wit was evident. I know you could dazzle them.

Hey, Mike!

Heard you were "under the weather."

Looks like you are recovered... at least half-way...

02/25/2008 11:59 PM by Mike Jaquish Keller Williams Realty, Cary, NC (Keller Williams Realty)

How about Mike in the Triangle (like Mike in Tucson - I mean I found him online that way...)  I also like the idea of That Real Estate Feller's Opinion

02/27/2008 02:45 PM by Eleanor Thorne, Cary Mortgage Loans (Meridian Residential)

Don't listen to Eleanor - she has issues!  :)~  I do like Mike In The Triangle, though.

02/27/2008 02:53 PM by Leesa L. Finley, REALTORĀ® (Circa Properties)

Eleanor,

Mike in Tucson is just tooooo good looking to compare to.

Leesa,

And why else would you suppose she is so much fun?

How about:

Mike Jaquish *******

02/27/2008 05:40 PM by Mike Jaquish Keller Williams Realty, Cary, NC (Keller Williams Realty)

My two cents is great but how about spell it sense!  My 2 sense - a real estate blog.  Then get yourself a cool blog banner & your all set! (Imagechef.com)

I usually get together with a couple of girls in the office & we just throw things back & forth until something cute shows up.  We also critic our websites the same way to polish up all the boring closing stats.  Good Luck, maybe a cocktail will help?

02/27/2008 06:54 PM by Lyn Sims - Northwest Suburban Chicago Homes (RE/MAX Suburban)

Lyn,

"My 2 Sense"  Hmmmm. Good one!

But it gives me a little too much credit.  ;)

I think "Journal" is the future of blogging, at least until next week...

02/27/2008 07:12 PM by Mike Jaquish Keller Williams Realty, Cary, NC (Keller Williams Realty)

Mike,

I think you are an incredibly creative guy - a visionary - an individual.  I respect you for that.  Unfortunately an agent from your office that used to be w/FM copied my website and content.  Kind of below the belt. What do you think about that?

02/29/2008 11:06 PM by Tracy Santrock-Cary NC Real Estate Blog (Fonville Morisey)

Tracy,

Thanks for the kind words!

As far as the other issue?  I have no idea, but I suppose you should just address it with the person who has created the problem for you.
