I'm just a independent contractor saving for my own retirement and have seen my net worth grow over the past 15 years.  I started out learning from the broker of the company to keep track of my Savings and my debt listing everything on a sheet.  Each year I update this in January and surprise myself.  I would recommend this to all at first mine was very dismal but now it is not so bad.  Also you should have a financial planner do a retirement analysis for you.  We need to have goals and keep track of our own finances.  We are always busy worrying about our clients and not about ourselves.  Please try it you will surprise yourself.
