I have run two marathons so far and am trying to motivate myself to get back into it this year. My last one was the Bank of America in 07 - Tampa so have to continue the trend to do one in 08. If anyone is training for one- I can use the encouragement and which ones you have run and or going to run. I am thinking of one of these- Chicago, San Diego, Marine Corp or New York this year. I have so much training ahead in order to get back into the endurance level I was at but would like to attempt to get there. Anyone who is training- I appreciate sharing your stories- encouragement as I am trying to motivate myself to get more mileage in as at 13 miles tops now!

Awesome accomplishment, Lea!  I have run 10 miles in one race before but never tired the marathon.  The training and time commitment for me is too much right now.  Ok, who am I kidding....the pain of the running is too much! :)  Best of luck in your training and in the race!

Very good achievement.  I was thinking about running the marathon in Disney and was up to 3.5 miles 3 times a week.  But I fell off the wagon.  I wish you better luck.

Good luck, Lea!  I don't believe in running as it's bad for my knees and joints, but I walk fast... really fast, but I couldn't do a marathon.  I do love my new Chung Shi shoes though... they are a full body workout and all you have to do it walk.

That is fantastic! I personally have never run further than a half marathon but running is just so good for your mind and body.

Hey Lea...you go! Here is a humorous series of blogs from Martin about his marathon training...What Was I Thinking (Part One): In the Beginning.

Best of luck on regaining the endurance!

I don't know which one I want to run in but I am starting to do a little training.  Starting with the StairMaster and treadmill.  Only because its been a little rainy here.

FYI there is a great running group called the Blue Sharks that meet at the downtown YMCA Sat 5:30 a.m. - as many as 40-100 runners show up. It has been a while since I've been there but great group, Fred runs it and it is free. Let me know if you need more info. Of course that means a mellow Fri night! :)
