How old were you when you bought your first home?

What year did you purchase it in?

And how much of a down payment did you have?

I am gathering info for a piece I would like to write. I am looking forward to the community's response, so everyone is encouraged to participate.

If you have a home (and don't rent or lease it) please participate.

Hi Joseph, Age 21 for $52,500 in 1982 in Manchester, NH and being an FHA loan, I'm going to guess around $2,000 down payment. Good luck with your project.

June, Epcon.

Were those figures the purchase prices or the down payments?

I was 24 years old in 1995 and we bought it for $68,200. My husband (boyfriend at that time) was inactive duty for the Marines so we used his VA (which, since we weren't married was actually a hybrid of FHA/VA that I don't believe exists now) and we had to put $500 down. Then we spent $2,000 to rip out the bathroom because I wouldn't move in until it was redone!

I was 26, purchased in 1998 for $147,000 and we put 20% down.  Purchased with my husband and we settled in August, got married in October.  Bought it as a fixer upper and put around $40K into it before we moved in.

Joesph,

We bought our first home in1974, we were 24 years old.  We actually bought it with the help of the builder/owner who was developing the land behing the home.  It was a great home.  We paid $37,500. for it.  It was located in Bethel, Connecticut.
