On 12/12/07 I wrote this second note about my problems with the Treo 650.

I wrote a glowing report last week about TreoTricks in California who repaired my Treo 650, which had a speaker problem that seems to be common to the 650.  I said he made it better than new and repaired a few glitches that I couldn't figure out how to fix.

Well, dad-gummit, today the speaker has gone out again.  The first time when it happened I could hear the caller on my loud speaker but this time I can't hear them anywhere.  I could see who called and politely tell them my phone was out and they should call me on my land line and they could hear me but I couldn't hear them at all.

I've emailed TreoTricks and told him he needs to fix it again.  Will keep you posted in case anyone cares!!

I paid the postage to get it back to him and he told me there was nothing wrong with it.  If there was nothing wrong with it the problem could have been the VolumeCare that I installed on it.  One other thing about the 650 is low volume.  So he told me to send $10 to send it back to me.  I received the phone back and decided to try to rig it up again.  Inside there was no battery!!  I emailed him and he said he couldn't possibly have my battery!  He was moving but he'd check and see.  I have heard nothing more.

But I got a battery from ebay and am firing that 650 up once more.  I do wish I didn't love that little phone so much!  My 680 is in the wings.  This posting is just in case you do 650's also!

Hi Barbara - I have the 650 also and have really had no issues with it....knock on wood!  I've had it for about 2 years.  I love it for the ekey capability...as well as the many other functions it provides.

My last phone was a 650, and the earpiece volume is a major problem that they all have.  The fact that VolumeCare was even developed shows that there was a huge demand for it.  I recently switched to the 8525 and will be selling my Treo 650 soon if you know anyone in the market  ;)

I will say though, outside of the volume problem, I never had a single issue with the phone.  It worked great and was extremely reliable.

Steve, you are right.  Thanks for comment.

Mary, I love mine too except for the sound and the speaker problems.

Ryan, I probably should sell mine now that I have it back in action.  I can't put volumecare back on or it may ruin the speakers agan.  Perhaps I'll carry both phones with me today!

Dave, I read about the lawsuit but I doubt they'll consider Treo Tricks a legitimate repair.  My 600 I just gave away and fixed as long as I could by myself.   I do hope someone makes them pay for the phone problems, though.
