I love this event, and missed it again.

Next year, for sure.  From the sidelines, but I will be there.

3000 North Carolina State University stalwarts braved the chilly morning.

The challenge?

Run two miles from the NC State University Bell Tower to the iconic Krispy Kreme store downtown.

Eat a dozen glazed donuts, and run back to the Bell Tower.

Go the distance.  All in under one hour.

And this year's winner got it done in 31 minutes, 20 seconds.

$20,000 raised for the NC Childrens' Hospital.

Wait 'til next year!

Mike, it kind of sounds like all the calories you lost from running you gain back but all for a good cause.

Marchel,

Calories?

In grease and sugar?

What will they discover next?

Boy that sounds like a lot of fun.  I'll have to start training now.  Should I start running first, or eating Krispy Kremes first?  I know I can run two miles, but I've never tried eating a dozen donuts before.  I should probably start with the donuts...

Penny,

Start with the donuts.  Definitely.

If you don't like it, you haven't wasted a lot of energy finding out.

I can't imagine running after that with all that in their stomach.  I bet its hysterical to sit by Krispy Kreme and watch the eating part.

Steve,

A favored technique is to pick up 4 donuts, mash them flat, so they look like four CD's in a stack, and eat all four at a time.  There is a photo in the slide show where one participant is holding the donuts out for the camera.

I think the trick is to waddle back before your stomach figures out what happened and revolts....

Jennifer,

I can only accurately report and predict:

It hasn't been, and never will be, ME.

LOL

I absolutely love Krispy Kreme donuts. I've heard about this "race" before - but never considered participating. Maybe I'll join you next year. Let me know when you sign up for it. :-)

DArleen...

From the sidelines, only.

With a camera.

Two glazed, and a tall coffee, please.
