Scrolling through the Real Estate Agent Web Design Tips group postings this morning, I came across this post by Agent Web Design about designing for screen resolutions to cater to as many users as possible

We are being dragged kicking and screaming into a broadband/widescreen world.

I understand the inclination and relative desirability of designing for the median or lower common denominator of technology, but now $599 computers coming with widescreen monitors and wireless internet access is widely available to near broadband service speeds.

And Cary and Raleigh, as well as the surrounding Wake County, NC, areas are fairly well wired, with DSL and Cable access most common.

I'm leaning towards making that currently adapting consumer's experience top-notch.  I want my new web presence to cater to broadband and wide-screen, offering a selection of higher resolution content than dial-up and 15" screens will support.

Applications will drive hardware, or hardware will support applications.  Anyway, I see way too many sites, real estate-oriented and otherwise, that cater to the lowest standards and end up mediocre or worse on widescreen.  My 17" widescreen typically shows 40 to 50% background color on too many sites.  And THAT can be a jarring experience considering some folks' color choices.

Or maybe I am entirely wrong and we are being dragged kicking and screaming into an iPhone world.  Hmm.

Stretchable site design?  Maybe.

Tomorrow's project:

Make EVERYONE happy...
