Thank you, Hartford Courant for this news flash!

A cutting edge investigative report has gathered evidence that HGTV is not always Realty Reality TV.

Who would have thought it?

Why, I figured that all I had to do was put in air fresheners and bake cookies and people would pull out their checkbooks and preapprovals and we would go under contract!

One note worth pondering, is the mention that popular TV shows have raised consumers' expectations regarding staging.

I see that, and will be expressing it to sellers more frequently and persuasively in 2008.

Some nice exposure in the article for fellow KW agent, Carol Cole, of Keller Williams Realty in Avon, CT.

OMG, Mike.  Who would have thought!!!  I am speechless.  Speechless, I tell you.  Should HGTV have the disclaimer that people shouldn't try this at home?

Do you watch TLC?  Flip This House, for example?  They seem to present a realistic picture.  Remodelers running into problems that make them finish late and over budget.  Slow markets bringing down the price of the finished home.  Marital tension because of the above.  etc.

Karen,

I don't watch it as much as I did.

A lot of the methods and practices on "Flip..." seem questionable.

I do enjoy a good project from time to time, though.

Thanks for coming by!

Mike - once again your investigative skills are masterful!  I still like Property Virgins for pure entertainment...  How many FIRST TIME BUYERS do you know that will only look at 3 houses and make a full price offer????  Do you have a stager you use?

TV not real?  What next, no toothfairy?

We have found staging coming in to play more frequently.  These shows seem to have raised our seller's awareness of the importance as well.

Sadly there are people out there that believe everything they see on HGTV and will tell you that's how it's suppose to be done.  That makes getting the public educated more important than ever.

3 houses and lets pick one.........wouldn't that be something!

Eleanor,

Sometimes they look at a long list and buy the first one they saw...

Kristen,

Don't get me started on the Easter Bunny.....................

Bill,

"Illusions Shattered Here!"  LOL

Karen,

HGTV, the working man's nemisis!
