How to raise some cash for a couple of hard-working non-profits? How to have fun doing it? How to get a bunch of Realtors in the same room and not talk Real Estate? What to do for a holiday party?
The Cary, North Carolina office of Keller Williams Realty had chosen two local non-profits to support on an ongoing basis:
1. The Center for Volunteer Care-Giving provides services aimed at helping folks stay in their homes by offering support to them and their families. These are warm, generous people who voluntarily give of their time to offer respite care, transportation for errands or medical care, and give Seniors a chance to stay in the comfort of independent living as long as possible.
2. April's Angels offers fantasy bedroom makeovers to chronically ill children. Think about where a chronically ill child spends the most time...
Two causes that tug on any normal heartstrings, two easy causes to support. So...on to the Bad Taste...
We held our 1st Annual Fashion Victim Ball November 30, at the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors ballroom facility.
And a picture is worth a thousand words:

Conceived by the Associate Leadership Council, this event was orchestrated in just a few months.
Co-chairs Bill Fletcher and CaraLynn Telford did a great job of organizing, directing, and motivating (You are a NAG, Bill Fletcher, Sir! :D)
With a great band, good finger food, appropriate libations, and the absolute finest in outrageous dress and tacky accessories, it was definitely a party!

With sponsorship from many fine businesses, and a silent auction of tables loaded with goods and services, it was a fund-raising event.
We raised $18,000 for two fine charities, and had a whale of a time doing it. Win-Win, indeed!
Rama Polefka created The Fashion Victim Ball website, with photos from our ball, and other KW events.
And by the time it was over, attendees werre already planning what to wear next year. Think Ebay!
Did I mention we dressed for success?

This looks like a typical Board of Realtors breakfast. :)
Looks like fun!
