Oh, you think I'm joking, but every year its the same thing, just as I'm about to
spend money on Christmas gifts for everyone, it never fails. Something, or in the
case of this year, everything breaks down.

Last year it was my car, this year it is my wife's car and the microwave and the stove.
What is it about my house and cars that feel the necessity to break down at the most
inconvenient time of the year?

I've tried talking to them, being nice, and still! The car I can deal with, the microwave was a little harder, but the
stove? I love my wife's baking and if the stove is busted that means I'm not getting fatter and I'm not happy! If
my wife let's me thin out too much, I might actually be able to get this ring off and be able to leave her.

We all know the only reason I'm staying is because I can't afford the surgery to remove the ring - LOL

So, can anyone tell me how everything knows that it is December and that it is time to break down all at once?

Todd,

When you least ned the expense, something always manages to break down.

I know the feeling.  Every time you think you are going to get ahead something breaks.  Just be thankful that you can afford to get it fixed.

Happens to me too every year! This year, it's ME :) Oh well, I was hoping to be a younger and newer model anyway....

It is Murphy's Law, December clause: do not let Todd get even a little ahead in December; he needs near financial ruin to kick start him into January.

Todd,

That's strange!  At my house, things always break right after we buy something we didn't need!  Buy a swimming pool, the car breaks.  Pay off the computer, the fridge goes kaput.

Our major purchases talk smack to the old stuff, and they just curl up and die!!

See, now I would take the car breaking as a sign I didn't need to be leaving home...but the stove?!?  hmmm...must be time to take the wife out to dinner!!!  ;^)

Todd, I know what you mean.  We just had one of our vehicles break down.  It's up and running now but the timing was bad and the part had to be ordered which took forever because of the holiday!

I think your car and appliances got jealous because Santa didn't bring them anything...LOL

I dont even want to comment on this - with my luck my computer will have a fit and break!

Todd, my "check engine" light just went on in my car!  It's all your fault!

Todd,

First of all, relax...there are plenty of 'cold' fattening treats! And in answer to your other question, as appliances become more electronic and 'computer' based, they are being programmed internally to self destruct...so you need to buy a replacement...how's that for a conspiracy theory!!! LOL Thanks,   Fran

I think Santa's elves snitch and tell the cars, house that it's time to break down and give trouble!  All we can do is go with the flow and make the best of things.  2008 will be AWESOME!

Todd - It's just the grinch...I'm sure of it!

Todd, the house/cars, they just know.   If it is of any comfort, the grinch/elves whatever, hit here too!  I did manage to do some major baking - even though I'm working with a kitchen functioning at 2/3 capability.  I do have dishpan hands (and thanks to an open house, I missed the chance to get a dishwasher someone was giving away).

We had car repairs and my daughter's TV go.  Of course we are trying to replace the main TV which is on it's way out - was supposed to be "our" gift (just haven't gotten it yet).
