As some of you know, I have been following Google throughout the year and how they market themselves. Okay, some of you might say that they really don't need to market their name because they are so well known. Maybe this will surprise a few. And the Number ONE spot for Top Brand name goes to. But can we learn a lot from how they market?
Has anyone paid attention in the last few days and have watched Google change up their logo for the holidays? Very interesting. The logo on the right appeared yesterday. If you click onto the logo, this is what appeared which is below.

Conclusion : Again, what can we learn from this? How do you market and brand yourself? Do you keep doing the same thing? Change it up? We definitely know that marketing should be in your business plan every year. But do you know that marketing and branding are two different things? Do you confuse one with the other? This is just my opinion, but this could be a good read. Marketing & Branding..... Are they one in the same or different?
The next set of blogs are those about Google and their unique way of marketing their new images. I have found most to be very creative and relating to the certain holidays surrounding these changes. What do you think about their marketing?

Jeff, very interesting perspective. They seem so on the edge sometimes. What a franchise value. I saw the logo change but never thought of a master plan. We'll see what unfolds.
You're soooooooo right Jeff about Google. They never miss a chance to spread/market their name in new & creative ways. Also getting users involved by submitting their own designs from time to time is a nice touch.
I LOVE logging on and seeing Google's new twist on their logo. I hadn't ever really noticed that it's a progression though...theyr'e heading for a nice pretty Google Logo wrapped in a shiny red bow!
Yup, Google is the king of marketing and branding. We need to be aware of little tricks to make people come back, and sometimes it is good to make it a little goofy.
ANDREW..... I agree that it's an interesting perspective. And I think Colleen below nailed the answer on the head. I guess we'll see by tomorrow. thanks
MARTI..... I agree, getting users involved in submitting their own designs is a great way for them to market and to keep it fun also. thanks
TERRY.... my pleasure. I just think many of us can learn from them and how they market. There are many messages behind what they do. Just think about it.
JEFF..... in my opinion, it could affect so many things, hence why it's called marketing. Hey, not all changes are good and some are great. I agree about the Coca Cola thing.... But one thing that I disagree with... you said, don't change unless competition changes. Why wait for your competition? It might be too late then. How about staying ahead of your competition? Just my .02. thanks for your input.
COLLEEN.... same here. Each holiday, it's something different. And you know what, I think you are right about the bow thing. Something so simple, that I overlooked... lol thanks
ROBERT...... I agree, hence why I wrote this post. I think it's great awareness and possibly what we can learn from Google. Thanks
MISSY.... Read Colleen's answer. I think she is right on with that. Thanks for stopping by.
DENA.... hhhhmmmm.... I think you might have sparked something else in regards to your comment. Wondering what you are thinking about made me think of something also... lol thanks I guess time will tell.
SALLY.... Spring cleaning? Interesting.... read Colleen's comment. A bow.... they show the ribbon and lopping it through the "O"... but yes, they always make it eye appealing.
I had noticed the changed logos for the season. I guess no matter how large or popular you get, you have to keep marketing yourself and it doesn't work to keep doing the same old thing.
it's kind of like when Burger King came out with the jingle for The Whopper...then McDonalds had the one for the Big Mac...it was a never ending thing.....
I wish I had billions of dollars like Google does. Then I'd happily follow in their footsteps by just buying every profitable venture that has already been established, and growing it to an astronomical size, thus eliminating all competition.
Google has done a tremendous job of not only developing services and products, but great marketing. To think when we say were are going to use a search engine we say Google that.
ANDREW...... I agree, I think you need to stay one step ahead. I think some people get to complacent and don't change until it's too late.
ALEXANDER...... a very good example and yes, change is good. thanks for your input.
LISA..... lol... you didn't get my check? lol Sometimes just being creative and working with what you have is all it takes. Sounds easier at times, just need to put your thinking cap on.
RANDY.... I agree, not even great marketing, but as you stated, developing a series of products. It has been amazing to say, I am Googling that....
Jeff- it's seems like a good idea to follow what Google does and figure out how to make that useful for us. It seems anythings this company does turns into a pot of gold. They are just so innovative. As for real estate branding for myself, it's a big job, not sure if I will take it on.
FAINA..... I personally think it can't hurt to do some of what they do. Have you ever looked at branding yourself? Could it elevate your business just a tad? Just food for thought.
LISA...... thanks. I also enjoy to see what they come up with every holiday. Will today be the unveiling, or tomorrow? I think Colleen has the answer and I am going to check now.
