Some of you may remember that I went to jail just before Thanksgiving. For those who don't remember, you can read about it on my post "have you ever been to jail?".
Anyway, my group, Vox Jubilante, received a letter addressed to the prison chaplin today and I wanted to share a bit of it here with you. My prayer after this experience was that these men would remember the music and somehow it would help them. 
This man who has asked to remain nameless told us in his letter that about a year ago he was at the point where he tried unsuccessfully to end his life. He said that someone saved his life but that he felt hopeless and without direction and ended up in jail (I have no idea why).
He said and I quote, "Tonight I was moved because no matter that I may have done wrong, as well as those here with me, somehow there are people that it doesn't matter"... he went on to say that the songs, "mean something and to me I could feel it in my very heart I tried to stop. Being alone, no where to turn is how I feel in this so called life and still, these people came to say in song, try to give life a try again,.."
He went on to thank us for "taking the time to care".
My prayer was answered.. what an amazing God I serve. This man had a life changing experience because this group of regular people with one common purpose "to touch a life and make a difference" took the time to go and visit Rockingham County jail.
We can make a difference in someones life, we only need to take the time to show we care.
