David A. Podgursky, mentioned he uses Windows  Live Writer to import tables into his blogs. I have heard of it but I just didn't get around to using it. So per Dave's advice I decided to download it and install and give it a whirl.

I am using Windows Live Writer to show statistics on my blog and using this new tool makes it a lot easier and you can also use Windows Live Writer to post content on your blog.

The first video below will show you how to use WLR to add content to your outside blog.

Windows Live Writer

This second video shows you how to add a table of data to your blog.

Pssst.  It's just you, Missy.  Nah, it isn't loading for me either.  Jay's getting better.  This time he just broke the video, not the entire blog. :)

Hi Chris and Missy,

Try the first one now the link to the video should work. LOL

I've been watching the History Channel Blogs LOL

Cool, and looks easy after you do it a few times. I know this is a dumb question but why would you want to do it from Live Journal and not just the wordpress blog ?

I'm just starting to work with my wp so am curious.

Awe shucks Chris I'm blushing. LOL

Missy, Did you get a chance to see my post on creating tables in WordPress? It's not easy even with a plugin very time consuming. A lot easier this way.

Jay, I did watch the video and think it would be excellent for that. So thank you very much. Bookmarked for when  I launch. And I may need to call you.

Hey Jay - just because you do such cool posts here showing how to do this kind of stuff, I almost wish I did use WP for my outside .....  almost!

You're one of my two favorite McGillicuddy's, too!   ;-)

Jay, I have never used WordPress, and I am not sure that it really offers anything that I can use for what I do.  So I guess I should take a look at it in order to form a more accurate opinion.

Jay,

I have Camtasia Studio 5.0 and I believe that I saw once jing , but I never imagined that was so easy to make this videos and share them through their server instantly :)    I was wondering what was the difference between camtasia and  jing,  I check their tutorial and I noticed how easy is to upload in their server the videos, without compromising our bandwidth, I am happy for that, everything that you can upload without using your resources is awesome, right ? :)

BTW, I like your tutorials, very easy for people starting how to use blogs,  last thing and quick question for you, compared the other blogs or the wordpress or whatever other that you use,  how doyou compre that to active rain ? or differences ?   I have not used other blogs at this time,  just  www.blogger.com   from google, but  I do not have time to blog on different sites, what is your suggestion about this ?

thanks

Ann, thanks I appreciate the kudos.

George, do you have an outside blog or do you just rely on AR?

Ray, not sure what the difference is but Jing is a free service for now. Did you have to buy Camtasia? Plus you are right having the video on another server works for me too. LOL

Active Rain is a great platform as it has a lot of google juice because there are a lot of users. We rate high in our kewords for our area with the AR platform.

I like WordPress because it is on our own server where Ar is on Ar's server. We have been gaining a lot of hits and views on our outside blog New Hampshire Real Estate Blogs.

WordPress also allows us a lot of flexibility with different themes and plug-ins to make it look very professional.

We too have tried Realtown, AR and Wordpress.com sites and I would stick with AR and one outside blog. Content is king and we have put a lot  of info on our outside blog this month and it has proven to be beneficial.

I hope this has helped, thanks Jay

Jay, the only blog I have is ActiveRain, which is the only one I have time for right now.  I do have a web page on the McCue Mortgage Website, but that just has my contact information on it and a brief write-up.

11/26/2007 10:12 AM by George Souto (McCue Mortgage Co.)

Have you thought of doing an outside blog at all? Have you looked at your keywords to see how yu are placing on google searches?

11/26/2007 11:20 AM by Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty)

Jay, I don't have a lot of time to put into another blog, but I should look at the use of keywords more closely, I don't think that I am taking full advantage of that.

11/26/2007 11:52 AM by George Souto (McCue Mortgage Co.)

Jay,

I am with George,  I do not have the time to write on different blogs, as you wrote, I have seen that AR it has a good juice with search engines, so I want to keep here instead to blog somewhere, I was asking if wordpress or blogger has great juice, but I do not think so , and I do not know why.

camtasia was a gift, I always ask for software for gifts, of course something that I am interested with.

what I like about this new service from techsmith it is that  it shows the big screen, I am in 1680 x 1050 wide screen notebook 15.4" I did not want to buy a 17" or bigger, because was too big to carry, I wanted something good , but not so big.

I re-checked your first video and yes, I saw the .PHP , I have not been in wordpress website or tried it, but I see that they give you the way how to install the PHP or the blog in you web hosting service, am I right?

Jay, I always look for your blogs, you are the guy that I feel compatible to chat about these great of topics.

Keep it good and keep blogging

Hi George and Ray,

One thing we have started to notice is that our outside blog has actually reached higher search rankings than AR. Not all the time but enough so that we really feel our outside blog has been worth building.

Jay,

Can you check my new blog post that I did here on AR ?   I would appreciate comments from you !! some add ons that you can me respect this subject.

keep it good and thanks for the last info.

SOrry to be so dense - but assume (and I hate to do that!) I could import an Excel Spreadsheet in and then upload into a blog??  That would be GREAT!  I'm doing my business plan in Excel - and would like to share the tools I've developed.

Ray, I'll check it out and thank you.

Maureen, I am finding it frustrating myself.

Eleanor, Do you have an outside blog? I think you could do it.  Thanks for the Kudos.

Hi Jay, I'm surprised that you didn't post about the Monday Night Football game this week. What a game! Yikes, I was sweating and my heart was jumping out of my chest thinking that the Pats could goo down to the Ravens. Oh me of little faith!

Jay, I loved watching your video tutorial...mistakes and all. I love your insertion about Monika laughing. You are so funny.

I have been manually typing my tables into wordpress. yucky!  This makes it so much easier.  Can't wait to go try it.  I LOVE the video tutorial.  What a great program.  I particularly like that you didn't edit it to make it work perfectly on the first time.  Trial and error is the key with all technology!

I am trying to configure and am stuck at entering "the remote posting URL for your weblog".  Any ideas?

01/06/2008 08:24 AM by Ginger Wilcox, Marin County Realtor (Pacific Union, Marin Real Estate)

Hello Jay, thanks for the tutorials.

I also use a Wordpress blog along with my AR blog.  Is there a way to use WLR to post to both your WP & AR blogs?

Thanks again for the help.

01/10/2008 11:33 AM by Tyler Wood ~ Big Bear Real Estate (Coldwell Banker, Mountain Gallery Realtors)

Hi Ginger, sorry I missed your comments. I did see your posts so I hope all is well. My mind has been a little fuzzy lately. LOL

Tyler, I haven't been able to get it to work with AR, when I get some time I might play with it more.

01/10/2008 12:39 PM by Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty)

Thanks Jay.  I will mouse around a bit on it and let you know if I come up with anything.

01/10/2008 02:51 PM by Tyler Wood ~ Big Bear Real Estate (Coldwell Banker, Mountain Gallery Realtors)

Jay- I got it working and then when I moved everything over to bluehost, I can't get it to work now.  So frustrating.  I need to keep on trying!

01/10/2008 04:03 PM by Ginger Wilcox, Marin County Realtor (Pacific Union, Marin Real Estate)

Thanks for the help, Jay! I definitely need to get started with this!

I need to practice more with it as I haven't played with it much lately.

01/19/2008 07:21 AM by Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty)

Hello Jay.  I have no problem getting the WLR to add the table and then publishing it to the blog.  All is fine there.  If I make a change though (spelling or any edit) on the WP side, then table is then deleted.  Have you had that problem?

01/31/2008 10:44 AM by Tyler Wood ~ Big Bear Real Estate (Coldwell Banker, Mountain Gallery Realtors)

Tyler, at least I am not the only one. Yes that has happened and is very frustrating. I have stopped using WLW not because of that but just because I just do it in WP. Hope this helps. Thanks

01/31/2008 11:20 AM by Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty)

Thanks Jay.  Is there an easy way to do it with WP?  Any help you can pass along is appreciated.
