My clients travel a little, and live just a few miles farther than our Keller Williams Cary real estate office from the new home site.  And the spouse works long hours, and will have a difficult time seeing the construction of the home through its phases.

What to do?

I can usually find a few minutes most days, and have driven to the home site, and taken photos on a few occasions.  Email would have been a little bit clumsy to send photos.

Hmmmm....

Flickr!  Oh, for sure!

With my Flickr Pro account, I can post unlimited monthly photos.   And now I have delighted clients who are grateful that I have posted 56 photos this week showing their new home construction.  I figure by the time they close next spring, they will have one of the largest folders in my Flickr account.

Plumbing and Forms for slab constructionAnd I'm just getting warmed up!

Lori,

Flickr is cheap, at $24.95 per year.

Great venue for sending photos to clients, friends, and family.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

Mike, Hi. Thanks for sharing about Flickr. I've been enjoying the pictures in your blog. Didn't you mention you purchased a new camera recently? What did you buy? (I'm in the market for a new camera and am searching for suggestions.) Thanks!

Darleen,

No new camera yet.  Considering it, though.

I'm using a Kodak CX7530, 5MP point and shoot.

I want a wide angle digital.  The Kodak V705 comes to mind, although there are others.  I was one click away from buying a V705, and decided not to spend the money just yet.

I would love to buy a digital SLR, but I would have to shoot a LOT of photos to justify it.

Thanks for the compliment!

Cool idea. Wonder though if placing something on your own webpage would be a good idea... would add more content and if your use the alt tags properly, could be a good seo boost

I have been doing this for years and my clients (especially those relocating) LOVE it!!!  I add their galleries to my website instead of a flickr account because it is free to me but it is the same concept.  These galleries are private, they can not be viewed by others on my website, only the buyers.

At the time of close, I go to www.blurb.com and have my galleries, captions and all, loaded into a hard cover book.  I have my advertising information on the back flap and a personal letter on the inside flap.  I make a disk of the source images and put five business cards into an envelope I stick to the inside back cover.  It costs $29.95!!!

Then I have a good marketing tool when we sell the house!  The book (and my marketing info) stays with the house and the sellers take the book jacket (with my marketing info) as a memento.

Ed,

I agree.  My website is slowly developing, and photo posting will be a part of it.

At this time, I have 2100 photos on Flickr, and they are serving a purpose there. In time I expect to have most of them on my website.

Virginia,

Great idea.  Nice touch for your clients.  Thanks for sharing it.

Mike,

This is a great way to keep your clients excited about the house while it is being built.  I love Virginia's idea above too.
