How to Use Bookmarking Sites to Gain Links & Traffic

Get More Links & More Traffic!

Carl Martens asked a very good question on one of my recent posts, Top 100 Social Bookmarking Sites, on how to gain more traffic from these bookmarking sites.

After you register, be sure to submit your own blog...give it five stars or whatever you can do to promote it - don't be bashful!

Google crawls these sites and will find your blog listed there. That gives you another link to your blog, which should be linking to your site with keyword links within the blog posts. If someone leaves a comment, be sure to go to that person's blog and leave your own comment, with a link to your site. See where this is going? Lots of new links!

Ask friends, relatives, employees, clients, people on the street to go to these sites and recommend your blog. In fact, really go for it - got a group of AR compadres? Start a round robin and recommend each others' sites. Recommendations willl make it show up higher on the lists.

In addition, you may well gain readers to your blog, especially if you're blog is ranking high on the site from all those recommendations. If they like it, they may then give you five stars or a digg or whatever that particular site uses to indicate "Yes! This is a blog you'll want to read!" Hence, more traffic. Thumbs up
