Sweetie and I took a quick ride to Falls Lake this morning to view the lake level.  Falls Lake provides drinking water to Raleigh, North Carolina, and several smaller towns who buy water from Raleigh.

We know the lake is low.  We have seen the photos on TV, in the newpaper, and on the internet.  Nothing prepared us for the sight we beheld.

Currently Falls Lake is 8.5 feet below normal level.  Severe Water restrictions are in place for Raleigh and other towns.  Cary, NC, has much more water in reserve, since we pull from Jordan Lake.  Cary has also had year-round restrictions in place for a few years so restrictions on use are not a shock to us.

Anyway, I shot a few photos and put together a quick Real Estate Show, and also uploaded a few photos to Flickr.

4 Comments on Cary and Raleigh, NC, Real Estate: This drought of 2007 is for real!

Mike, this is downright scary! I can't ever remember us being in such a severe drought. We all have to do our parts to conserve water.

Darleen,

Living in Cary, I suppose it is a matter of time before we are selling water to you.

A reverse of several years ago when Raleigh was selling to Cary.

Mike... that's crazy! (Nice use of the pan feature)

Jeff,

"Crazy," is driving past lawn irrigation systems that are soaking the street and driveways at a time like this.

Thanks for the compliment!
