First settled in 1682, Darby was incorporated on May 3, 1853.

Within Darby is the site of Hilldale Park, former home of the 1925 World Champions.

Darby Borough is, in this writer's opinion, one of the hidden treasures of Delaware County.  Historical landmarks abound in this community.  Public Transportation is readily accessible, with easy Trolley access (two lines!) to Philadelphia.  The Philadelphia International Airport is closeby. 

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a community teaching hospital serves Darby, and the surrounding communities of Delaware County and Southwest Philadelphia.

Darby has one of the oldest volunteer fire companies in the nation, with over 200 years of continuous service to the community.  Local shops, like People's Drug anchor the community, providing service to the community not often found in today's large chain stores.  Produce Junction serves up produce at unbeatable prices.  Despite a high population density, Darby also has a large proportion of green space, especially along the creeks that once served the mills that were once the backbone of this unique municipality.
