Normally I would not post repeatedly on the same topic, but I consider this such a vitally important issue that I feel I must say something.

The legislature is wrapping up their special session on budget cuts this week and the word is that instead of calling a 4th special session that the Governor will be extending this session to address the property tax issue.

There is an article in today's Orlando Sentinel on the front page of Local & State that covers the Governor's proposed property tax issues.  I called Governor Crist's office this afternoon to find out what he is now proposing about property taxes.  Basically the proposed Constitutional amendment is probably getting scrapped altogether.

The main things though that greatly concern me with his proposal are (1) there is no new provision regarding non-homestead properties, (2) there is no proposed rollback in assessed values, and (3) there is no proposed millage rate cut.  In other words, there is no tax cut of any significance being proposed.

Please don't sit by silently while the governor and the legislature are in session here.  This is the time to contact these politicians and also everyone you know that votes.  We need to let these politicians know that we want to see some giant tax cuts this time.

This whole session on taxes could be finalized as soon as next Wednesday according to the Governor's office.  So don't wait.
