WP logo Most of you know about my frustration last week with the upgrade to WordPress 2.3.

Well now I have another issue. I am having problems formatting pictures in my post. They look just fine in Firefox web browser but when I open up I.E. they look like crap.

If you want to see crap take a look at New Hampshire Real Estate with Jay McGillicuddy make sure you have IE open and you can see the 2nd graphic is pushed way to the right. The main content holder will support 520 px width and this graphic falls in line with that. I have done everything I can think of to make it right.

I have been searching the WordPress support forum and no luck, yet

Oh well, if you can see something or think of something I'd appreciate it.

Thanks Jay

That rots ...it looks great in Firefox! Mine does the same thing...the photos are all funky and squished when looking at it in Internet explorer.

These sorts of techie issues can drive us all batty at times.

Jay - at least I'm not the only one having trouble! I hope mine will be straigtened out tomorrow! I'm really limited on what I can do if I can't upload pictures. Do you think they're all jealous of each other and don't want to play?

What if you go in to the HTML and insert a <BR> between the images?  The problem is on how the images are lining up. Thanks for the reminder.  I hate IE so I rarely look at my blog in it.

Linda, hope you get up and running soon

Thanks Ginger I'll give it a shot.

Jay this blog is fabulous! Seriously I love the layout.  Are you talking about the second chart ??  Or have you fixed it already. Because I use IE and there is not an issue that smacks me in the head LOL

Carole, I haven't fixed it but yes it's the second chart. I'll go look at another computer. My eyes are very tired.

Ginger it didn't seem to work. Thanks for trying. When I inserted the <BR> and saved it and then I checked it again I noticed it didn't work I went back in and noticed WordPress closed the <BR />. AGH.

I went on wordpress.org and there seems to be lots of questions on image handling in the forums without answers.    It seems like a lot of the fixes were in the CSS code.  I know that makes you happy.

You need to close the BR tag yourself.  Insert first image. BR TAG.  Second image.  Close BR Tag.  Worth a try but I don't think that will solve it for you.  Keep me posted.  I will keep thinking about it.

I think what more interesting is that this all seems to have happened after we upgraded to 2.3. A few of my earlier posts have the same sized graphic and they sit in the post just  fine.

Thanks Ginger for jumping on WordPress.org forum.

Hi Jay - I had noticed that on your blog and on one of Monika's, too. I think it was the one where she talked about the convention - pics overlapped each other and almost cut one of them off. Hope you get it fixed soon! Ann ps - thanks for the time with Bear on the site map stuff.

Well, I finally resolved this issue, I hope. Awhile ago I was using a 2 column theme called Misty Look, very nice and very clean looking. The main content page holder was 520 pixels wide. So, it wasn't a problem as I knew I could fit most my graphics in that holder.

This time I changed my theme to 3 columns and I did not take into account the overall screen size as I had an extra column (sidebar). This meant that where my main content resided was less than 520 px. Therefore, I needed to shrink my graphics.

Of course, Mr. WordPress was available to send me a very long email explaining my dilema. Thanks Mr. Wordpress.

Mark had another great piece of advice, he said as from an SEO perspective I should not use graphics to display my statisticts but try and input the data in a table. It took me awhile but I did find a plugin to create tables in WordPress and I must say it works pretty well.

Take another peak at my last two posts and you can see the how the table looks. Not perfect but very acceptable.

Jay - I looked at your new wordpress blog and it looks fantastic! Now, if only mine looked that good!

Linda, thanks I appreciate it. My problem is I am always looking at new themes and dowmloading them to see how they look. Now I am working on seeing if I can put up a podcast. Stay tuned...

I tried a podcast once....sounded like a frog!

10/11/2007 09:04 AM by Linda Scanlan (A Fan of AR)

Maybe i twas the speed of the recording? I think we al lfeel we sound different when our voices are recorded.

I know Monika always says "do I really sound like that"? LOL

Jay - I guess you solved it because it looks great in IE and Firefox. BTW, when we were in the process of designing my blog (the first time around)....one of the issues I was having is that it looked horrible with IE and it took weeks for them to fix it. I would not launch until it was perfect in all platforms. (so even people who work in the web design business have the same difficulties)

Hi Jay.  So glad you got it working.  It looks really good!!

Jay, love your blog! The tables look very nice. I use tables on one of my pages, but I did it by setting it up in Excel then copying to WP. It seems to be searchable as people using those keywords are visiting. However, I really like the look of your tables, so will have to read up on plug-ins. Don't really understand what they are.

Ines thanks, that makes me feel a little bit better. Very time consuming but I enjoy learning.

Ginger, thank you.

Elaine, thank you. Plugins are great they enhamce the blog nicely . If you know how to upload files to your server it is easy with a little practice. Lmk if you need help and I'd be glad to assist you.

10/12/2007 10:11 PM by Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty)

Thanks Jay. Before I bother you, I'll check to see if WP.com lets us use plug-ins.

10/13/2007 10:06 AM by Elaine Reese, REALTOR® in central Ohio (Real Living HER, Worthington Ohio)

Elaine, WP.com has widgets but no ability to add plugins that I have found. Maybe someone else knows but I have not seen a way to do it.
