You know about the Do Not Call Phone list. The success of that privacy act created a new industry of Opt Out resources.
For those of you who need more relief, here's how to get off even more lists.
PHONE SOLICITATION: I have found this registry to be very effective.
To stop the calls, go to www. donotcall.gov, or call 1-888-382-1222.
Register if you get a new phone number and register your cell phones as well.
A listing is good for 5 years.
JUNK MAIL: You can try to opt out of direct mail solicitations, but it will probably not work very well, but is worth a try, http://www.dmacons/ umers.org
CREDIT CARD OFFERS: Billions of offers sail through the mail system. Call 1-888-567-8688, but be ready to give out personal info like your Social Security # or try this http://www.optoutprescreen.com/.
E-MAIL: Do not respond to unsolicited e- mail by opt out option. A trick used by spammers to confirm they hit a live address and then sell to other spammers, (No, we would NEVER do that to you!) Unfortunately, right now, spam filters are the only way.
CREDIT FREEZE: If you opt to put your credit into freeze, companies can not look at your credit history before they make you an offer. "If they don't know your past, they are not going to 'bank' on your future".
Hope this helps,
