When life gets UGLY... AHhhhhhh....What a difference a vacation makes! I bet many of my AR friends here have wondered what happened to me lately.

I rarely time time off to go anywhere.I know I am a work-a-holic and perfectionist that is constantly tweaking something.  Part of the reason I never leave town may be that I don't like to leave my little dog (Chanel)behind. So, I decided to take her with me and one of my best girlfriends down to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in the heart of the Smokey Mountains. We found a fabulous new pet friendly chalet right on the Little Pigeon River.

Late in the night as I was packing for the trip, I took a break and wanted an ice cream bar from my freezer. When I got it out, I found it was dripping. DRIPPING???? What the @!*%!! My whole freezer had melted stuff! Now I had to get action and try to save some of the frozen meats. I packed some in a cooler with what was left of the ice in the bin. What was happening to my refrigerator?? I turned up the dials and went to bed after I called my handyman. Can you believe he answered his phone at 10:30PM? He said he would call a technician in the morning and take care of it. The next morning I frantically tried to stay on schedule and get out of town by 10AM...it turned into 11. I had thrown everything in the refrigerator in the trash on my way out. I thought about all the times I had started out by having nothing! LOL  Here we go again.

We weren't very far out of town so we could be close to the shopping and shows. My plan was to take my laptop and do a little writing on my future novel and blog. That NEVER happened. We were having too much fun checking out the sights and doing nothing. My first night I stayed on the phone or computer working with some new clients. I sent them some new listings then planned to meet them this week. After that things settled down a bit. Chanel got used to the new place and was a big hit at all the stores we visited. She had to sleep with her green Teddy to feel secure. (She hugs him to fall asleep at night).

I have to say that I did have a busy day today getting back in to the swing of work. I wrote an offer that did get accepted, faxed off a relocation report and even showed some investment property.

Anyway...It's good to be back. I think I will be better about getting away next time because it all went smoothly once I left the house. The refrigerator was fixed by 2PM the day I left and all was well with all my clients. Life does go on without me!

If you get a chance go on down to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge and check out all the Fall decorations They really go all out in the displays.

Glad you had fun.  Great pictures, cute dog.

You needed a reason to clean your fridge anyway, right?

Hoorrraaahhh!!  You did NOT work on VACATION!!  I love that part the best!  NOW...what's the verdict on the freezer?  Time for a new one?  (we bought one this year and ours was only 5 years old)

Love the pictures!!  How did Chanelle love vacation?

Lizette--Something always goes wrong when we go on vacation! We wait for it to happen...then the rest of the trip is perfect! Sounds like your experience is similar! :) Nice to have you back and glad you enjoyed the trip....Pictures are beautiful!

Nicole - It really was fun! Wish you could have been there!

Sally- Chanel lives to have fun and be sweet. Plus she holds still for a pic.

Karen - Yes I did need a good reason to clean it but I still hate to throw out perfectly good food.

Thesa - It's good to be back. I have had a busy 2 days.

Susie- The refrigerator did get fixed. It was a relay switch that had burned out. It didn't cost much to fix. I am going to put another fridge in the garage just in case this happens again! Chanel had a fabulous time and was a absolute angel to travel with.

Teri - How right you are! I'm just glad everything on the trip went smoothly.

Lizette, I know how difficult it is to go away and leave your baby (in my case, now two).  I was lucky enough to have my daughter home when I made my escape!!  Glad the refridgerator worked out and it's happened to me :(  I'm glad you had a good time.

Carole - You made a bigger escape than I did by going to Paris. This trip did show me that I could still work a bit a play a bit. My Sprint aircard works just fine in my laptop and my cellphone kept me in touch with everyone. Since all tools I needed to operate business worked just fine there I feel good about going back in December for a break.

Glad you had a great time and got away from it "all"? for awhile.

A what a great place you chose!

Be careful with that garage fridge.  Make sure it isn't plugged into a GFCI circuit or put a "tripwire" like a lamp plugged into the same outlet on top of the fridge.

Sometimes the GFCI trips for who knows what reason and your garage fridge loses power.  If you don't catch it in time, your "fridge food" becomes trash very rapidly.

Dang, guess my cookie expired.  Anyway, be careful with garage fridges.

Hmmmm...I had no idea about the GFCI circuit or about plugging a lamp into the same outlet! THanks!

Erby - Your cookie is still safe.

Enjoy your vacation!  When the market turns back up, we won't have time for any more vacations!

Lizette - You're talking my kind of vacation! I'm from Maryville, TN orginally and I LOVE going to Gatlinburg! It's getting so crowded, though. Have you ever headed over to Cades Cove? That is my favorite place in the whole world!

10/08/2007 12:19 PM by Linda Scanlan (A Fan of AR)

Robert,I think you are right...But I plan to go back for 3 more days in December just in case.

Linda - We had planned to go over to Cades Cove on the last day but couldn't drag ourself away from the shopping. Maybe we will get there next time in December.
