ActiveRain Friends,

You say you don't like the brokerage fees ABCXYZ Amalgamated Realty is charging?  I don't want to hear about it!

You think other guys don't have their fees where they should be traditionally?  I don't want to hear about it!

You need to explain how your fees are fair, standard, right, less, more, higher, lower, just right, flat, fixed, variable, traditional, discounted, not discounted, the going rate, less than the going rate, above the going rate?  Whatever?  I don't want to hear about it!

You feel the need to discuss how your fees fit into the market, while it seems that half the market has it wrong, and pricing needs to be fixed?  I don't want to hear about it!

You lost a listing because those pirates down the street work for free?  I don't want to hear about it!

You don't care what your board says, what the state says, or how the DOJ interprets Mr. Sherman's Anti-trust Act?  I don't want to hear about that either!

I really just DO NOT want to be drawn into a hazardous conversation you seem obsessed with, discussing the going rates, full commission, discount commissions, other peoples' commission, or any of that stuff too many wagging tongues seek to grumble about with agents outside their own firm.

"Hazardous?"  Yes, hazardous to my wealth. health, and career.  Find someone else to connive with to help destroy your career.

So, if you have to bait someone into a commission conversation... Let it be someone else. See...

I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT!

I hear that pepper spray is pretty effective.  LOL!

Mike, I do want to hear about it. Not so that rates can be fixed. The marketplace will see to that. But I want to know what the competitive situation is. I will make my own decision. But I believe that decisions are better made with full information, not in the dark.

Kudos on that... major kudos.  Pain is pain.. suck it up and go on!

Bill - I agree that it is always helpful to know what the competition is doing. The key is to now follow the competition.

Hi, Mike!  Sometimes I cringe when I read posts on what you don't want to hear about.  If you venture to the Q&A section, it's even more blatantly discussed there.  A-ma-zing.

You said it brother.  I will not engage in any conversation that appears to be heading in that direction.

Yolanda,

Thanks for commenting, and understanding.  FWIW, I have given up on Q&A.  Too many folks offering interstate advice regardless of local laws.

Randy,

Thank you, my friend.  I trust your judgement!

Mike,

I think I'm beginning to understand now. Would you please take your fingers out of your ears so we can discuss...oh never mind.

Good Morning Mike,
Not a topic I am going to participate in either.  And on the Q&A, that is true--I don't get it.  Why would people even look at the questions from other states?  I only look at NC.

Hi, Cynthia!

I gave up on Q&A after seeing countless posts that started, "I don't know how it is in North Carolina..."

Many people had serious questions and needed guidance, not blather.

Oh, well.  It gives us something to talk about while we are avoiding That Which Must Not Be Named...

Have a great day!

Great post.  Fees and fees, they have to be charged so that the company can stay in business.  Don't agree with how your company charges them, find one who charges fees the way you want to.  Don't like the way the competition charges them, find out why, and figure out how to sell around them.  Learn the objections and learn the responses.  Want to talk about fee's, ask for help in how to counter the customers objections, how to get the business when the competition is a discounter, or if you are a discounter, how to counter the full service, etc.

Cry in your beer at the bar, let's talk about doing deals here.

Mike,

It is easy to get pulled into a conversation about this kind of thing - thanks for the reminder!

Rita,

It makes me wonder how oftent people have to be told.  In sales training we are taught that someone only hears something if they are told 7 times.

I'm guessing that on some topics it is a much higher number.

Mike, It looks like a couple of the posts you linked to are now defunct. Way to go!

Funny - Funny - So I guess you don't want to talk about it.. I gave  you a 5 for this post simple and to the point.

I missed this post when it first came out, but it is excellent.  Apparently there are some members who just don't get it.  I'm mystified as to why these people keep wanting to "push the envelope" by bringing up this risky subject.

Eric,

Thanks for the compliment.

I have basically decided that it is not worth my time to look over my shoulder and worry about the other guy's model.  Dwell on value-added service, and it will work out, IMO.
