The real estate market in Destin and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, will always be healthy due to the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. We have Emerald Seas, white sugary sand, nice waves, great fishing, the views from shore are incredible. On a calm day, seas are 2-3 feet, winds usually from the southwest at 8-12 mph, so trolling is a piece of cake. Bait fish are plentiful, easy to capture in a cast net. No wonder so many Real Estate agents gravitate to northwest Florida!
When I was about 13, I got a job working construction. That summer the boss decided to take the entire crew on a deep sea fishing trip to Destin. All the way down there they teased me relentlessly about whether I would be strong enough to reel in a fish if I caught one. Revenge was sweet when I wound up catching the largest fish of all- a 17 pound King Mackerel. Thanks for the memories.
These are small king mackerel, max 7 pounds... My son-in-law got them last summer. Some days you get them, some days you don't! Catching them with a spinning rod is great fun.
