how self-Important are you? This is a test.  This is only a test.

It is not really about Columbus Ohio Real Estate.

This is about social media use, use of technology, Twitter, domains, IPhones,  Blackberry.  It is about self-importance in the way web celebrities are self-important.  Its'a different kind of self-importance than celebrities like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsy Lohan etc. it's a geekier kind of celebrity.  If you don't know web celebrities it may be boring.  When I think of web celebrities I think of people like Jason Calacanis, Matt  Cutts, Robert Scoble, Chris Pirillo, Darren Rowse.  I don't know if those names are all answers, if there are other web celebs I know nothing of.

I found the test on Planet WordPress from Sept. 9, 2007 whiich says:

Matt: "Technosailor has an online self-importance test that tells you which "web celebrity" you are based on a few questions. I'm apparently a possible outcome but when I took the test myself I got "Jason Calacanis."

I don't read Planet WordPress much. I am trying to work on Plugins for my WordPress.org blog... Instead I ended up taking a quiz.

The quiz told me: "You are most like Matt Mullenweg!"

"You are most like Matt Mullenweg. Though you recognize your authority, you do not relish the idea of using your power too aggressively. Instead, you rely on peers a lot. You do participate in the social media world, but it is not something that occupies a lot of time. You most likley devote yourself to projects that you feel passionate about and tend to evangelize those things quite a bit."

Like I have any power...  I like the sound of "You do participate in the social media world, but it is not something that occupies a lot of time."

hmmmm but who is Matt Mullenweg? I recognized his name... but couldn't say who he is like Matt Cutts, Robert Scoble, Jason Calacanis...

"Matt who???"  was my first thought but I backtracked and sure enough Matt Mullenweg is Matt, "the founding developer of WordPress, the Matt who wrote "I'm apparently a possible outcome but when I took the test myself I got "Jason Calacanis."  on Planet Wordpress...  In a link on his website photoMatt.net he shows he is the most important Matt according to Google.  I woulda guessed Matt Cutts was the most important Matt!  I'd think Matt Heaton is the most important Matt in the AcitiveRainiverse.

I wish I was more like Matt Mullenweg when it comes to WordPress.org ... my ColumbusBestBlog.com could do with me being a lot more like Matt.

Take Technosailors's Self-Importance Test  Which "web celebrity" are you most like when it comes to 'Self-Importance?

Some web celebs in case you don't know them: Scobleizer and The Scoble Show, Problogger , Calacanis.com , Chris Pirillo Show , Lockergnome Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google, and SEO , Photomatt.net

13 Comments on How Self Important Are You? - A Test

Well Maureen...you, me and Matt fit in the same catagory!  I come up showing most like him too

Mary had you heard of Matt Mullenweg before this quiz?  I think he may be considered to be one of the least self important of these web celebs. I did recognize that I had read Photomatt.net before.  I don't think of Matt Cutts being self-important though either.

Heh. Glad you enjoyed it. As an FYI, the scale is (from least to most self important):

Darren Rowse, Matt Mullenweg, Chris Pirillo, Jason Calacanis and Robert Scoble. :)

Aaron Brazell is Technosailor.com!   Thanks for the info.  It was a SHORT, fun quiz and Calacanis's name on Plane WordPress lured me in...

"You are most like Chris Pirillo. You dominate your brand and do quite well in marketing it. However, you go out of the way to place the focus on other people as much as possible as a decision on power and authority. You may have many followers, readers or fans but you rarely let this distract you from your mission and focus."

The only thing I would argue about is the followers. As in "many". Poo. Where are they? is what I'd like to know. Anonymous? Hiding? Make-believe? Are followers also leads? Will they become leads? Is money involved with followers? Enquiring minds (and quickly emptying pockets) would like to know...

Fun test Maureen.

Teri your followers are all on Twitter. I noticed today that I have 5 followers and Scoble has over 5000...  no wonder he tops the scale, he should think he is self important.

I believe you stand more chance of your followers becoming leads than someone who has never heard of you....

I matched Teri - Chris Pirillo, here. I've no idea who any of those people are! But taking tests are always fun!

And I've double posted here! *sigh*

Ahh Twitter. Well I'm just starting to twitter in earnest, and now have it under my name, not an alias, so perhaps the coveted followers will follow and the money will as well. Goody.

Elaine, I knew we had so much in common. Chris Pirillo being one- right in the middle of the pack.

I took one down for you.  Did you see the note?  AR is slow.  It will be until tomorrow at least?

Pirillo is Gnomedex in addition to the two blogs above.

Maureen - that was very interesting - thanks for sharing. Most those names are unknown to me - guess I gotta get out into the blogosphere more.

Cyndee were you Darren Rowse?  Matt Mullenweg or Chris Pirillo... I really can't imagine many ActiveRainers being a Calacanis or a Scoble.

I read Scoble's blog sometimes, Calacanis all the time I used to Darren Rowse's ProBlogger all the time....I can see why he is on the low end of the self-important test.
