Wondering if my learning curve is going to turn into a barrage of major league curveballs.  I'm standing tough at the plate, digging in, and laughing at myself...  But I don't see any Bob Gibson-type knockdown pitches coming.

My website design guru tells me we are almost there, and I have wanted a new webhosting service. So, Friday, I changed domain name registrar, taking my webhosting business along for the ride.

And my primary email is through my webhosting service.

Forgot that it can take DAYS for the change to become effective.

Meanwhile, I am activating the WolfNet IDX solution, as provided by Keller Williams.

Furthermore, just for giggles, I activated my Treo 700WX verySmartPhone Friday evening.  Wow, TMLS on the go.  When I get to it..   First I have to get the data into it through sync and some manual input.

And I just bought a Ford Edge, a smarter car than the beloved and simple classic Mercedes.  It came on a dealer trade and the manual is lost in the shuffle.  Can't figure out some of the functions, but most of it is intuitive enough.

Now going into my second day without my website open for business and primary email not working, and having time to reflect.   And I'm sweating a few bullets.

1.  I sure hope the tech support at the new web host firm is as good as I think it is.  Already told them I am in over my head.

2.  Feeling really cut off from the world.  Wonder how many folks think I am ignoring their emails.  (Note to self: Next time warn the database before pulling the plug.  And offer up the secondary email address.)  I've had so many contacts lately, I feel like Best Buy with the doors closed on Black Friday.

3.  Can't wait to get it straightened out and take my new website live.  With blog on my home page, IDX seach right up front, and a shakedown cruise.  Maybe even a link to ActiveRain!

4.  No email is giving me a chance to get more familiar with the Treo verySmartPhone.  Smarter than I am, but I'll wear it down.

Anyway you slice it, I will come out ahead, and learn a few things, and improve my SEO.  And it should help my clients and prospective clients across the board as I adjust to the upgrades.

nice car... just got my wife the Lincoln MKX... a few features on it we needed over the Edge which we liked - plus a month back there were no special financing deals on the Edge.

I totally understand your predicament... I'm doing the same thing... got a new computer w/Vista and my replacement Blackjack within a week.  Vista's strange and the blackjack is a new version so learning its functions properly is taking me more time than expected, especially since I was without it for a month!

good luck...

Good Luck Mike,

Learning by Necessity is probably the most effective way to learn.  Its how I learned all my Computer Skills, and how everyone learns as they grow and mature.

Good Luck and Godspeed!

Mike,

I am sure you've got everything under control and I know you will come out ahead.  All of that going on and I'll bet you still provide that great service with a smile!

Mike, Sounds like you'll have fun figuring all of this out on the fly. Good luck. Let us know how you like all of this new stuff after a few weeks or months.

Mike,

Here we go again with change and how it affects us is what you are seeing. We want it now and they are taking thier time is the other thing you are seeing. I wish you the best with the new IDX. I am still figuring out the Reliance program that my firm has given us also and everyone makes the challenge for us, but I know you will figure it out and it will be a winner for you.

David,

Yes, I think I will like the Edge a lot.

Daniel,

The hardest part is the waiting for the web hosting change to take effect.  The learning part will actually be fine.  I think....

Jo-Anne,

It IS all about Attitude, isn't it?

Ray,

Smiling away here!  Partly from the pleasure of hearing from you!

Rolando,

Seems like Life is on the 'fly" sometimes.

Susan,

Yes, "Change is the only constant."  And I have been agreeably anticipating these changes.

Thanks to all for reading and commenting!

Mike-

I think I saw lots of this stuff on one of those stress tests and you may have scored the all time high. I love that you are willing to take everything on. I'm a bit slow and need to do things one at a time. Otherwise, I'd just pull the covers over my head and stay in bed.

Hey, Jennifer...

Stress is what keeps me awake!

Mike, I feel your PAIN!!  A few years ago I decided to change my web service to this really great DEAL, it just happened to be in India!  Do I even need to say anything else!!  After several months of frustration talking to India and having them call me sir I finally decided that maybe cheaper was not the way to go.  I LOVE MY HOST THAT I AM WITH NOW!! If I have a problem I can CALL them and they can understant what I am saying!!  I guess it just goes back to you get what you pay for.

I have had the TREO for several years now and LOVE IT!  I feel like I really have not tapped in to all the great things it can do.  It is worth it to me to have my outlook contacts with me all the time.

Hi, Marchel!

No pain, no gain, right?

One benefit I see is that the Treo replaces a cell phone I have had for the last year that is indicative of astounding major design problems at Motorola.

One example:  When in vibrate mode, it will repeatedly vibrate when pressed to my ear on a call, to remind me that I have a new voicemail!  Impossible to forgive or to understand the mind that made THAT a feature!

Great to hear from you!

Mike,

It looks like you are going through a tech whirlwind right now - new car, new phone, new website - ouch.  I can feel the stress headache all the way down US 1.  Do you need me to send you some Tylenol?

Rita,

Thanks, but I'm well stocked with pain relievers right now.

We played softball last night. :)

Thanks for coming by!

Ginger,

Hmmmmm.  You know, I haven't been to the beach for a year!

That's just WRONG!

Mike, That's a crying shame. You just have to make an excuse to come on down... October on Wrightsville Beach! is heavenly!

Ginger,

We were at Avon/Hatteras Island for a week last summer.  Sunday/Sunday.

Before noon on Monday, the wife destroyed the ACL in her right knee playing in the surf.  After her session with the ortopedic surgeon, I may have a little sales job.
