A website is no longer an extended business card in today's economy. Simply having an "Internet presence" will not cut it in a challenged market unless your phone rings off the hook from referrals.

The most common question I hear from Realtors and Brokers is "I get alot of visitors to my site, but they don't turn into clients. They just leave without showing any interest, what can I do to convert visitors into clients" Now, that's the $64,000 question. And, some firms will charge that much. But, it's actually very simple and logical. And it starts like this:
Website Conversion 101- TELL PEOPLE WHERE TO CLICK. CLICK HERE to bla bla bla, and if you are looking in anytown, us "click on this link" You MUST direct people to do what you're wanting them to.
Add hyperlinks to text within a paragraph. The easier you make the click for the user, the more they'll click. Bottom line. If you're wanting to generate leads, which is the only reason to have a site, then, you'll need to direct people to leave their contact info so you can initiate a relationship.
There's many, many, many more examples of how to make your website sticky. I'll save for future posts.
If you're site's not sticky, it's not making you dickey

Excellent post. I have this problem. You probably wouldn't call it a lot, but I have about 10-15 visitors to my site a day. I've only had 3 people contact me from it in the 3 or 4 months I've had it. I'm going to take your advice and see if I can't make it sticky
