Well, last night was one of my most anticipated days of the year. You see, my buddy and I are huge Hootie and the Blowfish fans. If you don't believe me, you can ask our wives...they will tell you we are huge fans! Anytime they put on a show close by, we are there.
Last night in Charleston, SC (Daniel Island to be exact), Hootie held their annual Homegrown Concert. We have been to this annual concert for the last five years. And it only gets better every year. Since Hootie is a local South Carolina band, there is always a great turnout and everyone really has a good time. Man, those guys really know how to put on a show and have fun. The good thing about this concert is that they ask everyone attending to bring some school supplies to help fill up a school bus. They then take the school supplies and distribute them out among all of the local schools. It's a win-win...Hootie gets to play for the home crowd, we all get to enjoy watching and listening to them, and the schools and kids get much needed school supplies.
If you have never seen or heard Hootie and the Blowfish, you owe it to yourself to purchase their CDs or watch them live. If they are performing close to where you are, you should definitely check them out. Unlike a lot of singers, bands, and groups, these guys are awesome live. Darius Rucker has one of the best singing voices you will ever hear.
Thanks Hootie and the Blowfish for an awesome show! Now, only a year left until the next Homegrown Concert. Maybe we will see you there next year. However, I have a feeling that we will see them again before then. Did I mention that we are huge fans??
But it's less than a week 'til their show in Atlanta, a mere 6 hours a way for you! If you've always wanted an excuse to visit the Nation's Capitol, they're performing at Wolf Trap a week later on Sept. 5. There's always hope. And thanks for commenting on my "hug" blog today.
