Russell Hokanson has been named CEO of the Seattle-King County Association of Realtors® (SKCAR), moving there from a similar position with Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors.
With more than 8,500 members, SKCAR, based in Bellevue, is one of the 25 largest local Realtor boards/associations in the country, and the largest in Washington state.
Hokanson brings 11 years of experience as a Realtor association executive to his new position. A registered lobbyist, he has devoted more than 26 years of his career to governmental and public affairs, including legislative work for three members of Congress. He regularly authors and presents testimony to local government agencies.
“The Puget Sound real estate market is very dynamic and highly competitive,” Hokanson observed, adding, “Our evolving industry encompasses both new and traditional real estate models, with King County often on the forefront of the changes.” An ongoing concern for the industry continues to be housing supply and prices, Hokanson noted. "Our Realtor organization is committed to a growing economy that produces affordable housing choices for every family in our region.," he remarked.
Hokanson is a Realtor Certified Executive, a professional designation he attained in 2005 from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The Woodinville resident is a 1978 graduate of the University of Washington and holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
Prior to joining the Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors in 1994, he was public affairs director for Contel and GTE Northwest (now Verizon). His background also includes service as a legislative aide to the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Hunger and various positions with U.S. Congressman Joel Pritchard.
