Does it bother you that there are a lot of off topic posts, people goofing around, just having fun?
Aside from not reading those posts... you could learn a lot from them and the posters... try participating...
The "The Lovely Wife" just had a massive blog on nicknames and she started it all with some well placed notes letting people know that they were mentioned in her post. I've also received those same type of notes from Maureen McCabe, Elaine Reese, Gena Riede and some others. I also have received an awesome cow thank you card from Karen Villa Schweinfurth and William J. Archambault (Investment Guru and philosopher) sent me some of his stuff too. On occassion I get an e-mail from an Active Rainer about a topic that was posted as well... thank you!
These folks understand the whole networking thing. I'm still working on it, but they really, really get it.
Not everybody can be Mary Mcknight and present loads of valuable info in what seems to be a never ending supply of awesome knowledge... and manage to stay "buff" too. Mary "gets" it... she gives you part of herself with her posts.
Jim Lee has been the face of the anti-realtor.com movement. He put's it all out there... even manages to share his love for Tennessee when he's not busy with the other stuff.
Broker Bryant has a knack for picking those perfect topics that people can latch on to, and he does it so well.
There are a whole bunch of smart people sharing things here, sometimes though... if you watch what they are doing you'll learn some other vaulable lessons.
In our business you can benefit greatly from good relationships. I'm working on it.
