It would seem that Florida's Governor, Charlie Crist, is finally waking up to the realisation that the insurance reform did not work. In fact just this week we got this: "I'm fed up with them," he said talking about the insurance companies. "I'm very frustrated with this industry."

The problem however can be traced back to the Legislature compromising and compromising and basically passing an incredibly weak Bill. There were some good proposals on the original table, but much like Property Tax, they fell by the wayside.

Frankly all that is left now is to go back to the Legislature and enact something meaningful. Property Tax will suffer the same fate. We could have abolished it and kick started  the housing economy and therefore the State's economy almost overnight. But no - the Republican controlled House, Senate and Governor's Mansion could not agree.

On my radio show - which can be heard every Sunday at Noon Eastern on 540 WFLA or over the net at http://www.540wfla.com/ I have interviewed the central players. State Representative Dean Cannon for example admitted on the air that some Florida homeowners will actually be getting tax increases this Fall, albeit smaller ones than they might have got if the Legislature did nothing.
