As residents of Lake Stevens we have seen many new neighborhoods popping up in the last few years. We will have a new school soon, as well as more traffic. How will Lake Stevens adapt to all this growth? Are we prepared for what is to come? We all complain about the trestle and it will get worse before it gets better with all the new homes being built in Lake Stevens.
What about Highway 9? We all know they are widening the Highway and many home owners will be closer to the road and the noise. What about the local businesses? Most of us commute to Everett, Marysville or even farther. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to work closer to home? Maybe we need to bring in more businesses to give Lake Stevens residents a place to work.
Lake Stevens is becoming a popular place to live for many reasons. We have great schools, low crime, small community feel and we are still close to major cities. Because of these reasons, Lake Stevens draws in tons of new residents. The increase in population and limited amount of housing causes home prices to rise. I've seen housing prices rise dramatically in the last few years. (Not to mention the cost of living on the Lake.) My home alone has increased in equity nearly 30%.
For us Lake Stevens residents the boom in population and desirability is a double edged sword. We live in a great city, but if too many people move here the city changes. Can Lake Stevens keep up with the growth? I guess we will have to find out.
Sounds like you need a Super Wal-Mart and a race track... =) The town I live in is in a similar situation. Dixon is located on the I-80 in between San Francisco and Sacramento...there are people moving here from both sides and our demographic is really really changing...
