I have been an
Active Rain member for a month now and love it. I love writing blogs, especially about my local region of North Atlanta. While they are not page long articles, I still believe they get the idea or point across. All of the sudden I've been noticing a lot of blogs targeting "new bloggers" and "short bloggers". Many of them have talked about how AR bloggers are writing garbage and cutesy blogs. Who has the time to read 50 blogs a day and judge who can write better than the others? I guess a lot of us do. Many of my blogs are local news and ideas that only fellow agents in my region would remotely care about. Does that make it a garbage or cutesy post because it is not featured on the AR homepage? Just becuase I don't care to read about a bridge opening in a small town in Oregon or an Agent bringing her Pomeranian to an open house doesn't mean it is a lame post. We all have the choice to skip it. A lot of Active Rain members are getting scared and feeling insulted over all of this. Many have quit blogging because they fear they are not "
blogging correctly". Isn't the point of this network to nurture proffessional relationships, not intimidate new bloggers who are learning this wonderful new medium. Most of us in this community are members of other online communities as well. We know that there are always going to be people who make a two sentence blog, just to get a post in. What can we do about it? Probably not much. Caleb and the staff at Active Rain are awesome, and are sure to be working on a scoring/posting balance. I might catch some heat for this, but I love this Network too much not to say anything.
I enjoy reading about some areas that have local content. I hate reading stats and blogs about loans. Thats my opinion however. My better blogs sometimes get no comments and the ideas have made me thousands of dollars which I find strange. That is fine with me.We are blogging for different reasons but there are some interesting people who I read their blogs daily. You may be one of them.
