A few of us at  KELLER WILLIAMS® Realty Market Center #377 in Cary, NC responded to the Raleigh News and Observer's slam on REALTORS®.

Some of us even were published today.  It was a delight to see Duane and Dani Frank, Stu Barnes, and George Wilson's names in print on the People's Forum page, along with some other very respectable industry voices.

Stu's letter was headlined, "It's about homeowners," and chastised the N&O for targeting REALTORS®  at the expense of homeowners.

Duane and Dani made some great points in "Clients our priority," mentioning, "fiduciary" duty, and  "This does not represent our clients' best interest.  That is why we as REALTORS®  oppose the equity tax."

George supported a smart increase in property taxes, "Raise property taxes," that will provide the services we need.

I'm proud to see these solid KW agents take a stand against a proposal that is aimed at taking huge chunks of money from folks, and designed to make it even harder for those facing foreclosure to avoid foreclosure.

Kudos to them all!

Glad to hear that some industry voices were heard.  I know that we are experiencing a lot of growth in North Carolina but I don't think an additional tax is the answer.  We already have too many different taxes.

My guess is that the People's Forum in the Sunday paper will be devoted to the proponents of the transfer tax.  More readership to sway on Sunday with a concerted message.

I agree with Rita, taxes are not the answer--there is a better way and now is the time for action on this.  We, real estate professional must let our representatives know our position.  Thank you for providing the links to these articles.
