I read a post somewhere about signing your blog posts with your signature, and I searched for it on Active Rain but couldn't find it anywhere.  Then it dawned on me that the person who wrote that post was the one that always signs with her signature, Lorelle on Wordpress.

I found the post that she wrote about making a signature and went to MyLiveSignature, where you can do a signature FREE, choosing from about 120 different fonts.  It won't be exactly like your signature, but you can find one that expresses your personality.  You can also get an animated signature, or scan your real one  and they will make it for you, although both those options cost some money.

I played around with it for a while, and here is what I came up with for my signature.  It is contemporary looking, but simple; not loud or gaudy.  Maybe classy, but not stodgy.  Maybe that is just what I think it should be.

Perhaps this one would be better?

As you can see, you can change the font, the color, the words, the slope, and the size and make it suit the theme of your blog.  Here is another one if I want to be more formal

Or sassy and bold perhaps?

Here is another version; I could have hundreds if I want!

The directions are easy to follow and I found that if I want to save it as HTML so that I can post it in my blog, I just copy and paste the code.  I copied it into Notepad and filed it away, so the next time I need to use it again I can copy and paste once more.  I might have copied into Word but my other blog is a Wordpress blog and Word and Wordpress aren't compatible.  There may be easier ways to do it but that will work for me.

One word of caution, when posting on AR, I usually write in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) versus HTML, and to add the signature you need to be in HTML.  So write your post, save it as a draft, then go back into the edit mode again and click on the HTML tab at the top.  Paste your html code for the signature at the end, save again, and this time publish if you are ready.

Have fun, and show me your new signatures that you came up with in the coments below.  Many thanks to Lorelle!

Interesting little add on to a post. Thanks for sharing the information.

06/23/2007 12:39 AM by Huntsville Alabama Real Estate Agent, Kimberly Grant (Exit Leon Crawford Realty)

oooh, hot pink!  Now I know a little bit more about you Kimberly!  Except how did you get it in the comments?  When I asked you all to do that, I didn't realize there is no html editor button on the comment section.  Did you save as BB code for emails  in www.mylivesignature.com to do that?

06/23/2007 12:49 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

Joanne - Love that - thanks for all the info on how to do it - gotta add it to my homework list :-)

06/23/2007 12:50 AM by Clearwater Real Estate Pinellas Florida Condos & Homes for Sale- Cyndee Haydon (Charles Rutenberg Realty)

Glad you like it; I wish I could figure out how to add it in the comments.  The BB code from the website doesn't work either. Kimberly, help!

06/23/2007 12:58 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

I like the idea of getting your own handwriting into a font, honestly.  You don't want to sign everything here with one signature if it doesn't look like your true one at all.

06/23/2007 01:01 AM by Lexa Montierth (Currently Looking)

Thanks Joanne!  I love it, I've added it to the top of my list to do.  We need something to spurce up our blogs!

Joanne

I am on my way there now, thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I will check it out. Hope it works on Microsoft Outlook too.

If you have journal writer you can write on almost anything.  I have my clients sign listings etc, right on my computer screen.

Not sure I want people to see my real handwriting...but there it is.

06/23/2007 02:34 AM by Marty Van Diest, Your Alaskan Realtor (RE/MAX of Wasilla)

Thank you for sharing the new sites, I have them book marked and I will check them out, thanks

Neat but I am not sure I want my signature on the internet.  Not that it would be my full signature.

An irate ActiveRainer who obviously didn't sign in to leave a comment on someone else's blog gave me a tongue lashing and then signed his comment "Maureen" not as a signature but just in typing.  I gotta tell you it was creepy coming home and reading the comment thread with one that seemed to be adressing me but signed by someone named Maureen.  Happy hour?

I have always admired Lorelle's signature though...

06/23/2007 04:34 AM by Maureen McCabe - Central Ohio real estate (Real Living HER)

Well.  First we have pshishing and next we'll have to verify our posts with our signatures.  Then we'll have pshishing authinticated by our signatures.  Then we'll have Nigerian Banks using our signatures to make withdrawals from our accounts, verified by our signatures.  Where will it end?

06/23/2007 05:27 AM by Lenn Harley Homefinders.com MD & VA Real Estate

I love the idea...I'm going to play with it some.

06/23/2007 05:56 AM by Todd Murphy State Farm Agent

I am with Marty - this is much better as I hate my own handwriting.

I am going to use it on my blog and my email!

06/23/2007 06:04 AM by April Groves (Lighthouse Leasing & Management, Inc.)

This is quite a nice feature. If you don't want to use for signatures, you can use it for something else like a headline maybe. Thanks for sharing.

06/23/2007 06:13 AM by Silvia Dukes, PA --- Ich spreche Deutsch! (Tropic Shores Realty)

Sweet!!  I was just reading someone else's post and they had a signature and I was going to go try and figure it out.

THANKS for sharing.  Now, I'm off to make my own signature!!

06/23/2007 06:15 AM by Becky Troutt (Reynolds Realty of Manatee Inc)

Electronic signatures are commonly used now I think, but I am sure the real ones have some security features built into them.  I think if I were to use my real signature here it would not be my full name, just my first name.  I know a lot of people use the tablet to capture signatures on documents too.  Good points though, Lenn and Maureen.  I like the font you chose April.  It works with your name really well. Thanks for stopping by everyone!

06/23/2007 07:58 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

This is my handwriting and I use this on the Real Estate Shows Blog and Home Staging Shows Blog.  It's just my writing scanned, and Jeff Turner altered it slightly so it looks like all of us on his blogs used the same pen.  Love it, think I'll use it on my "real" blog, too!  BTW, it's a .jpeg so I don't have to switch out of WYSIWYG.

06/23/2007 08:03 AM by Sarah Cooper (Real Estate Shows)

I think it is a nice touch if you are trying to add a little personal flavor to your blog.  A jpg would be lots easier!  Then you could just insert it like you do a photo and you could move it around.  You probably can if you know html too, but I know nothing and like it all done for me as much as possible!

06/23/2007 09:33 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

OK this tool is way too cool for school!  Thanks so much!  I was just going to bounce around for a couple of minutes and now I am completely distracted.  LOL!

06/23/2007 12:21 PM by Renee Burrows - Las Vegas NV Real Estate (Nevada Realty Solutions)

oh thank you so much! I had asked the question of how to do it and you answered my question.

06/23/2007 03:53 PM by Rosemary Brooks -Mother & Daughter (866)-750-8282 (Family Realty Group - 866-750-8282)

Well this wasn't hard, I just right clicked on the signature,  cut, then pasted!  I was too worried about he html code and this was easy!  I love all these different signatures.

06/23/2007 03:56 PM by

Hi Joanne - this is really cool, and I've bookmarked this post to create a signature for me, too!  LOVE this!!  Thanks for sharing, and I've enjoyed seeing the different signatures included in the comments here.....thanks!!

I came up with this - it's about as accurate as can be done without scanning a real one.

The red one has a little more personality I think, and the blue is more formal....

Which one are you going to use?

06/24/2007 10:23 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

Probably the red one for the most part.  It's more the 'real' me.  LOL  I try not to take life too seriously - the days are better with a little levity.

Note the absence of guys posting here?  Very few, and none has done any signatures.  I guess we ladies are the only ones that will be using it.  Often it is the guys that need a readable signature!   ;-p

06/24/2007 09:41 PM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

THANKS! I was wondering how everyone had these! :-)

Checking to see if this works :)

06/25/2007 01:09 AM by Mary Warren (Referring Agent)

it works as long as you copy and paste.  You cannot use html code in the comments, apparently.  Nice signatures Mary and Debbie!

06/25/2007 01:30 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

Can't wait to try this! I am going to try to scan in my signature in also but I think I could find something close that would be easier . . . after all, I still write "exactly" like my second grade teacher taught me! Hummm . . . I'm sure that is a bad thing!

06/25/2007 03:29 AM by Sandra Williams (Rancon Real Estate)

I got hit by my second grade teacher for my penmanship. Actually it was a posture thing, I was hunching over my desk so she hit me and knocked me down on the desk. I think I write better (particularly my signature) than I did in second grade.

06/25/2007 03:33 AM by Maureen McCabe - Central Ohio real estate (Real Living HER)

Speaking of grade school, I had a teacher throw a piece of chalk at me once, to get my attention.  Of course, when it hit me the rest of the class laughed.  You would think that teachers would realize that humiliating children doesn't work too well.  Hopefully today's teachers do.  Things have changed a lot in 50 odd years.  Maybe that kind of thing scars the kids for life and turns them into bloggers!

06/25/2007 07:14 AM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

I can't help but wonder if that comment is good or bad!  Did I offend you by saying that there are few guys doing this, or were you happy to find it Bill?

06/25/2007 08:45 PM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

AWESOME! Thanks for the tip!

p.s. Love that area of CO.  I spent my summer intership at Copper Mt. and lived in Leadville!

06/30/2007 10:31 AM by Bill Somerset, Realtor, Your Dover NH Real estate agent (Century21 Central Falls Realty)

Now I am going to have to start watching all the blog posts to see who is using it.  A lot of people have made their signatures and they all look very different from each other.  I like that I can just copy and paste it into my document.

Bill, Copper is my favorite mountain to ski, but if you haven't been there for a while you won't recognize it as Intrawest bought it up and built lots condos.  Leadville hasn't changed a whole lot though.... :)

Great post Joanne -

With as bad of handwriting as I have I need all the help I can get.

I'll still defer to my usual signature...

No wait!  That's not it.  There it is...

Seriously, we are graphical by nature.

A signature is a graphic - we recognize and relate to the things better "graphically".

I like it Ryan!  It is amazing how many different signatures we have seen.  I have noticed several people using them now, both on AR and their outside blogs.  I think it adds a personal touch.

07/20/2007 11:54 PM by Summit County, Colorado Realtor l Joanne Hanson (Coldwell Banker Colorado Rockies Real Estate)

I agree Joanne. The signatures break up the squareness and standard look that all blogs have. Anything to make ourselves stand out from the rest. I'm also using this signature in my emails now. Looks pretty good.
