I can't imagine that real estate agents would put up competing ads on their own websites - who gets paid for this website marketing?
If this was my website I would want not put up ads for competing websites and not get the money for it. However, I am not really sure how this is working - could someone shed some light on this? Thanks
9 Comments on Who receives the revenue for the ADS BY GOOGLE on the bottom of the Point2 Homes websites?
Michael, my educated guess is that if the ads appear on free Standard sites, Point2Agent receives the revenue and uses it as a way to offset the cost of providing free web sites to tens of thousands of agents. If they appear on Professional or Premium sites, then the income would go to the site owner.
I agree, there is no reason for this. I will even take it one step farther. I think that Google Adsense on any professional website dos not belong. I think that it makes the site look tacky and that it then looses credibility.
When you join Adsense you do not control what Adwords sites appear which is why you will see competeing site there. It is based off of key words or market choices.
People should keep the site clean and to the point.
I believe that the revenue from the ads is split between Google and the owner of the website. The websites in those ads are paying loads for space in Google's ad service.
But it probably is a stupid idea to put these ads on your website for the reason that it does direct your viewers to websites that may be better than yours.
Agents pay for featured ads on Google I think its about $ 30.00 for one month it gets the agents website more traffic , point 2 also has a featured ad it is $25.00 .
Banner ads are on p2 agent FREE site ,professional sites do not have them and the premium p2agent the agent can sell banner ads .
point 2 has a national listing service and agents advertise if the choose to on other agents sites they are called handshake agreements
Michael, The Google ads appear on your Point2 website only if your membership is at standard level, which is free. If you take a closer look, the ads are filtered and do not display competing ads. If you do not want to see those ads on your website, you can upgrade your membership to "professional" or "premium" level.
If you sell Google ads on your site, Google gives you an option to filter out competing ads. Just enter the URL of a competing site in your adsense account and ads of that website will not appear on you website.
I was really interested in P2 but quickly tired of the inflexible arrangements all over the place with them. Not worth the compromises...this is a great case in point (pardon the pun)
I cannot imagine putting other competing advertisements on our website - or any ads on our website for that matter as it would take away so much of the value from our site and make it look cheap.
I have a number of the standard Point2 agent websites. Point2 has the Google adsense program on the listing pages. This is part of how they are able to offer the websites to agents at no cost to the agents.
These websites continue to provide me with a stream of leads :) For those of you not interested in utilizing a marketing mechanism that can provide us with additional leads for our business = your loss.
Yes - I also have other websites, and I have several Point2 paid sites that do not display the ads. All in all, I can't think of a better value for the typical real estate agent wanting to get exposure for their clients listings and potential buyer prospects that the Point2 agent standard website. For agents that have the knowledge, willingness to invest time and energy in building a strong internet presence there can be other great solutions.
