On the Outer Banks, some Realtors use pay per click to make sure they are at the top of the list for search results.  Some say it is the best use of marketing dollars - you are placed in front of clients looking for your product.  Others claim actual results to be less than desired (and in some cases - very expensive).

I am looking for feedback on pay per click.  Do you use it?  If so, how much on average do you spend per month?  Are you getting the desired results?

2 Comments on Pay Per Click - is it worth it?

I've tried pay-per-click for a number of my non-real estate websites over the years and have never received any business from them. It's probably me - probably doing something wrong!

I just discovered an AMAZING free SEO tool that I'll write a blog about soon.  I'm so excited about this I just have to share it with someone!  It's at:  http://whois.domaintools.com/ .  You type in your website URL and it gives you all kinds of interesting information - including your SEO, META and keyword ratings.

When it locates your site - click on the SEO Text Browser on the right (click in the title bar).  Then click on the grey bar right under the website address.  It brings up a page that tells you exactly what you need to do to your website to make the search engines happy!

Enjoy,

I think it depends where your site shows up in the search results.  I started a new site last fall and used Pay Per Click to drive traffic to it and at the time I think it was worth it since my site was no where to be found otherwise.  But now time has moved on and I'm finding I'm getting hits through organic searches or from my blog...so I'm probably going to cut down if not eliminate my PPC.
